Graduating son (May '11) sat down over the weekend to complete exit counseling for his Stafford loans. When he went to select the auto debit payment option, a message came up stating he was ineligible for one of 3 reasons...the most obvious being he was still on "in-school" status. Must he wait a certain amount of time after graduation before he can complete the session and select auto debit? Is there a deadline for completing the counseling?

-Can you apply for Stafford loan consolidation before payments begin or after?

-NJClass loan: I'm assuming no exit counseling is needed being we are co-signers? Must he/we do anything before payments begin next month, or do we just wait for information to come from HESSA?

Thanks for helping us through the muck! :)
