Most Internet IQ tests don’t even go that high. A perfect score is usually 200 for those.
I know, I’ve taken some of them as well.

Okay, MIThopeful16, I like the attempted effort at being humble, but you can’t post your IQ and then say that you feel like people resent you for just your intelligence. I’m sure there’s something else - say, your constant bragging? Just realize that there are many many many people who have taken more AP classes, won more awards, have higher IQers, better grades, and more humility.

I personally do not find you impressive. Sure, you’re smart, but you want people to know about it. People who are truly brilliant don’t have to tell people they’re smart. People would just know.

Also, I don’t get why anyone would resent you for being smart… I don’t resent people smarter than me, nor am I resented by anybody I know (at least I certainly hope not!)

Most people aren’t resented for being smart. They are resented for bringing up their IQs for no apparent reason.

When you use a formula to choose a girlfriend, do you also use the result of the classical secretary problem to decide when to enter the market? If you’re looking for the best woman, you should probably wait until a little more than a 3rd (1/e to be precise) of the population goes by so that you can properly gauge the quality, then choose the next best one. That’ll pretty much optimize your chance of getting the best woman (1/e odds).

(Pro tip)

Hey, guess what. My IQ is 3.16*10^17. Yeah, I’m that smart.

By the way, using a standard deviation of 15 (which is typically what is used), there should be 23 people on Earth with an IQ of 187 or higher. Either bobtheboy is one of the 23 smartest people on Earth, or he’s full of crap.

I created an IQ test. You should all take it:

What IQ score would you like to tell others you have?

X

Your IQ = whatever you said for question 1.

It told me I had an IQ of 3.16*10^17

The problem with IQ is that the mean has risen constantly since its inception, which is why the tests get replaced frequently. So, one’s IQ is only a meaningful number if it comes which the particular test they took. Someone with a 100 IQ on a test today would likely score much higher on a test from 1950. IQ tests also tend to be skew right, so a normal score of 6 is much more likely than it should be.

You mean a measured IQ-score… Not IQ-score.

IQ is a statistic based on the intelligence of the population of earth. Once a scale is set, it is set. The average intelligence changes, not the scale.

Calling IQs skew only means an imperfection in the testing of IQ. IQ is a scale, it is perfect. The instruments used to measure it are imperfect.

I’m figuring you knew this and just didn’t want to be as obnoxious as me, but I wanted to clarify because many people don’t know that.

Regarding being resented for being smart. It somehow is possible at my school. Once you begin something at school, and are required to do something, the jealous people get jealous, and eventually start hating me. I also never should have made that IQ remark, that was extremely arrogant of me.

@TCBH - Yes, I do actually.

Many classmates jokingly say that they want to be as ‘smart’ as me. But it has never gone beyond that. And, yes, sometimes I let them cheat my answers during tests, just like they’ll help me during PE.

Good thing they don’t refer me as ‘clever’; I hate that term. Clever is like those top students who do nothing but study everyday. Smart is for people who can handle things well and solve theoretical and practical problems in life.,

Qwertykey just verbally tore apart all 187 IQ points of bobtheboy, poor kid.

Yes, the poster is likely mistaken about having an IQ of 187. There’s no reliable metric at that range, and the mere rarity calls the claim into question (only about ten people in the US should have that high of IQ).

I’m willing to say less than 10, but lol.

No one knows Hawking’s IQ, other than the reasonable conclusion that it is quite high.

It’s difficult to discrminate that high with the current metrics. Many people do not consider her scores to be valid because she supposedly centers her life around IQ tests, practicing with them constantly to learn the most efficient approaches and techniques. Nonetheless, Christopher Langan is reported to have an even higher IQ–between 195-210. He’s an interesting, but somewhat scary, guy.

Ah, Langan. Scary guy for a bouncer. his CTMU is a good study. But he is amazing.

Yeah, I saw an interview with Langan on youtube one time. Arrogant as all hell, but apparently really smart.

That’s probably mostly a product of candor and his unpleasant past.

Yeah he is arrogant. Well that’s another smart guy.

But arrogance doesn’t result in smartness.

I see you are quite adept at Wikipedia searches.
