Dont worry about curved finals.. If you think its easy then others prob will to so theres no point. Actually I think it's better for profs to make exams harder for curved classes. I tried taking a class cause my friend told me to take it cause he said it was easy (Avg A) and I've never explored teh area so I thought why not. I dropped it after a week not cause its hard but cause its so boring that i coudln't take it anymore lol

I for one hated classes I shared with engineers, because they forced me to work that much more to get the same grade I would earn in a class full of AEM (what used to be ARME) majors.

I had easy classes, and I had classes I would bust my behind studying just to get a C+ in the course. Whether or not the school's difficult in general is questionable, but I think that without a doubt there are some classes that prove to be the "bane of your existence". For me, that was Differential Equations (with the new numbering system, I think that would now be MATH 2930). That course gave me nightmares.

I always figured that one of the reasons that people at Cornell complain is because they came in getting A's on everything, but now 50% of them get below B's. A curve can also be a bit frustrating because you are competing against classmates for grades, which can be stressful. In the end I definitely think it was easier than I thought it would be, but at the same time I've never studied so hard in my life (or been so stressed before...prelims are pretty killer).

To Hoonose: That's great that you did well in the fundamental calc & chem courses. It will be interesting to see if you still say that Cornell engineering is easy a few semesters down the road - when you're a Junior.

preliims are okay but finals are a SERIOUS PAIN to cram for. cause they are all during finals week.. i had all my finals in a span of 7 days basically and it was a lot of cramming i must say lol

It's crazy how big finals are at Cornell. When I was studying abroad we had ONE day to study and then all the finals within a few days. It was awful and I was complaining to people about how that wasn't long enough to study but some replied that it was just like at their school and some even said they didn't even have "study days" back home, but that finals just came right after classes ended. Cornell finals are a prooooocess

does cornell have a "reading period" (days between end of classes and start of finals) and how long is it?

Uh...my friend's linear algebra class...a 98% was the cutoff for an A-

Cornell does have a study period. Classes end on a Friday and final exams begin the following Wednesday night.
