What's SO HARD about Cornell?

It's been long enough since I heard Cornell actually being "CornHELL."
But what is it that's so hard about Cornell's courseload? - More specifically?
Is it that really much harder than that of other ivy schools?
The amount of homework and projects? Frequent tests and test difficulty?
Hard grading professors? Class pace?
Compared to other top 50 public schools how harder would Cornell be?(assuming that you're a premed or a science major)

Besides, I also hear that it is realtively easy to get a B, but extremely hard to achieve an A range at CornHELL, b/c many courses are curved in way that 1 standard dev. is like 17%. Is this true for most of the courses?

Mainly the curves in the science and engineering classes. Liberal arts classes are okay. I think I have a 4.0 GPA in my non bio/chem classes so far.

how do these curves differ from elsewhere(other colleges and other UNIVERSITIES of same caliber?) I KNOW LITTLE TO NIL of curves. i mean, i think all i want to have is a nice solid B average and that would be excellent i think. is B wut they "curve" to. ?

The school doesn't necessarily make it any tougher than the rest of the ivy league. I think the students are what make it hard.

Because some classes are graded on a curve, and students are very motivated the median of the bell-curve is high. . . .so when everyone trys to get a high score, the median rises.

Here is a great exceprt from a guy who researched all the Ivies, you can read more at his website (<a href="http://www.seanmichaelgreen.com/logcornell.html):%5B/url%5D">http://www.seanmichaelgreen.com/logcornell.html):</a></p>

"Granted, the academics are tough at Cornell, but that does not seem to be the only reason why students struggle. Life at Cornell is a challenge because the students are incredibly ambitious. Double majors abound, and people seek academic challenges. Students volunteer in the community, participate in intramural sports, attend student organizations, and play musical instruments. And, of course, they party. In fact, first they party, and then they do all of those other things. The challenge of Cornell is in the breadth of the students' interests"
