Anyone get into their reach college? please

Hi, I was wondering if anyone got accepted into their dream or reach schools. I applied to several places and I'm worried that I won't get accepted. It would be nice to hear if anyone thought they wouldn't get in anymore but they got in.

I am applying to :
NYU
Johns Hopkins
Georgetown
U of Michigan
Cornell
Dartmouth
Northwestern
Dartmouth

SAT: CR : 680 M: 690 W: 710
I took the ACT twice:

Do colleges look at the highest of each individual ACT score like they do with SAT's?

1) Comp: 30
E:26
M: 33
Reading: 30
Science: 29
E/W: 25

2) Comp: 29
E: 30
M:34
Reading: 27
Science: 26
E/W: 31

SAT II
Math 1: 710
Math 2: 650
Bio: 650
US: 620
GPA: W: 3.96-3.97

Could I get your opinion? please

And for my mid year report:
I have an A- in AP English
B or B- in AP Chem
B+, B in Ap Physics: newton mechanics

Does the midyear report break college acceptances?

you need a SAFETY. all the schools on your list are pretty competitive and it's definitely possible for you to be rejected from all of them.

You will need a lot of miracle, unless you are accepted at U of M already. Many people will throw away their safeties if they are already in at EA or rolling admission schools.

My sentiment exactly - where are your safeties? It's hard to believe that your GC agreed to this list.

Everyone that got into ivies or equivalent got into their reaches.

I'd send your SAT scores, those are slightly higher than your ACT scores, because most schools do not "superscore" the ACT.

ha, i like your username.

yeah i got into my safety schools

which were????

I think that many of the country's top schools (top 20) are reaches for most of us -- the sheer numbers dictate that. I got into Dartmouth early decision. I wouldn't never say Dartmouth was a "match" for me, so it must have been a "reach".

It is difficult to assess your chances at the schools you've listed because you present only the bare statistics and admission decisions encompass more than just the numbers. On the numbers alone (assuming decent ECs, essays and recommendations), I'd say that Dartmouth is a big reach for you. Also somewhat big reaches are Northwestern, JHU, Georgetown and Cornell. Lesser reaches (if there is such a category) are NYU and University of Michigan.

Good luck.

if you haven't applied to mich w/in the last 3 weeks or so, it will be a reach, though doable. they have already accepted 65% of their freshman class.

What's your gpa/class rank, miracle?

I think with your SAT scores, you definitely have a shot at NYU.

thanks guys, i really appreciate it. did you guys, by any chance, get into your dream college?

i got into mich about 3 months ago, though i'd say it was more of a high match than a reach. 31 ACT, 3.97/4.0 uw OOS...still waiting on some others. just know that whatever happens, things will work out!

A couple of years ago, my child got into U of Chicago, her dream reach school with a combined reading and math score of 1340 and a
GPA of 3.6, but this year so many kids are applying that I don't think the decision would have been the same. She also got waitlisted at her second choice, JHU, but they indicated to her to apply ED to get admitted and she only applied regular, which is much harder to get into there. She did take the SATs a second time and if either of the school's superscored them, she would have had 1400 ( I think that is what Chicago did) Lots of luck, but remember that there are lots of wonderful schools out there and make sure you have a safety. I also think that the "reach" schools" are going to use their wait lists a lot more this year. Last year, Chicago didn't take anyone from their waiting list, but I predict that they will take several this year.

The thing is, those schools are reaches for EVERYBODY. Make sure you have safeties. Don't get discouraged though. Always try because there is always a chance. Good Luck!
