I just checked the page, and apparently I'm missing a financial aid document. This doesn't really make any sense since I sent in all the required documents. This makes me wonder if it's not just me, but the fact that the office is still processing the financial aid for others including me.
Anyone else have this problem?

Oh, this may be a bit off-topic, but I don't want to make a new thread about this. Do you guys know if we're supposed to have our textbooks before we get to Berkeley? In other words, do we have to order the books online or can we just buy them at the stores across from Berkeley (students told me these are cheaper) once we get there?

It doesn’t say what you’re missing? It usually is a bit more specific…are you an entering freshman?

And no you don’t need your books before you get to Berkeley. Lol ordering books online is much cheaper than neds/student stores usually. However, crappy thing is that sometimes, Berkeley makes deals with the company to have its “special Berkeley” edition so you’re forced to buy from the bookstores. Nevertheless, I just buy my books from the stores anyway because it’s a pain in the ass to wait for online deliveries…(and then get ripped off trying to sell them back for like .5% of what I paid. hahaha damn cheapos.)

Nope; it just says there is a missing document. I’d really love to know my offer before I actually GO to Berkeley and may end up paying full price.

The summer FA for new students has been down for months (at least since April when I applied).

After they fixed it, at least for me it said I was missing a document. I called and they said to wait a while and it should be fixed by Monday (I called last Friday). They fixed it Monday.

I would call, and see if you’re actually missing a document (it probably is just an error like it was in my case, though).

Anyone else get and fix this problem due to a mistake on the administration’s end? I wasn’t able to call on Friday since I didn’t get back home until 4 PM PST. Anyways, I e-mailed them a while back, but they won’t respond for at most 2 more days. I’m really hoping for an offer letter by like Tuesday so I know the financial aid before going.

I just called and they said I’ll get it within 1 to 2 weeks. What makes me furious is that I turned in everything ages ago before the deadline and they still haven’t given me an offer letter. Now I won’t get it until I’m already enrolling in the summer courses and I’m not entirely sure if my parents can afford it, which is why getting the offer letter before moving in is so critical.

I’m in the EXACT same boat 187. I actually moved to Oakland and got an apartment with higher rent because I was expecting financial aid to be done by the first day of school, so if it’s 1-2 weeks from today that’s ridiculous and I’m furious as well. I’m also an independent student so if I don’t get the fee waiver I have to foot the bill on my own and I don’t have the money for that.

I’m going to call tomorrow and see if I can get a full refund when dropping out if I don’t get enough financial aid. It doesn’t seem right to get your offer letter AFTER you attend the classes, especially when it’s their fault.

Agreed. I’m mostly concerned because starting next week, I won’t actually be able to pay all of my bills until my financial aid comes through (since I quit my job to go to Berkeley full-time)

This sucks. Please do update with what you hear from them tomorrow. Especially if you get a date range for when the aid will actually be disbursed.

The person yesterday said that I should wait 1 to 2 weeks before I get the offer letter. The person today said it would be within a few days and that nothing can be done about it. I also just received the response from my email (which took 6 days) and they said

So to be honest, they probably have no idea. We’re almost definitely going to summer school before getting our offer letter.

Yep, that’s EXACTLY what I got. When I pressed them for more information, they on Wednesday that I should be done by last Friday.

This is really stressing me out because with what my husband makes I don’t have room in our budget for anything besides rent, and we have a bunch of bills coming due within two weeks. ****ing sucks.

When I’m at CalSO today I might try getting ahold of someone while I’m there.
