"The weather turned out pretty nice today."

Lol. I would beg to differ. I had the pleasure of walking to class today in the pouring rain... wearing flip flops... without an umbrella. :( (So much for seeing the sun and clear sky at 8:30am and thinking that it was going to be sunny most of the day.)

Anyway, I'm a housing tour guide everyone! So be sure to ask lots of questions when you go on the tours to those of you that are going to be here in the next few days!

Okay, it did pour pretty bad around 11:30. Atleast it didn't rain during the campus tour and housing tour. The sunshine was on and off... but still better than continous shower.

Good point. Though it was a bit chilly standing outside De Neve Plaza waiting for the other groups to get back.

Yes it was. Tomorrow's group is definitely going to enjoy the vist with the sunshine.

hey ckings86, will you be there tomorrow? and what's your name?

Yes, I'll be here giving housing tours. And, evelyn_rose, I sent you a private message with my name.

i didnt get to go on the welcome day tour....

how much did i miss out on? can anyone brief me?

is this day different from college honors day?

Hey ckings, too bad I wasn't in your group today, although I might have talked to you... I was the girl asking about the five-bedroom suites. Hm... what's your opinion on those versus the De Neve plazas?

UCLA2010,

You didn't really miss out on THAT much, unless you were undecided and considering another school. They talked about a lot of general things, like clusters and seminars and most of the time, we asked questions. You could go to the thread that current bruins are taking questions on - same thing, basically. I didn't go on the campus tour [been there twice] but it's just walking around and checking out the campus. Housing tour was the most informative part for me, because I was supposed to pick out my dorm today... anything you're concerned about though, you could ask the UCLA students on this board.

Hmm... yeah I think we talked. It's a shame there wasn't any tour guides from the suites there today! The five bedroom suites are nice but I'm not sure if I'd recommend them to a first year. A good number of second and third years choose to live in the suites which means that they may not be as social as a regular floor that would have more first-years. Of course, I actually haven't spent too much time in the suites so this is mostly speculation. De Neve is a great option though because you still have some of your privacy (well as much as you can get in a college residential hall) and still have the chance to be a bit more social.

The worst part about the weather was that it started to pour right as we were walking over to Covel for lunch. Then right as we got there it stopped. I was pretty angry (and soaked), but the surprising quality of the food made me forget about it. I thought Welcome Day was a wonderful experience, it made me remember why UCLA has been my #1 choice for 10 years.
