Anyone going to St. Andrew's next year?

Hi everyone! I'm a sophomore at St. Andrew's currently. If anyone has any questions about the school and enrolling or need advice with classes, I'm here! Ask away.

Hi Serena, Thank you for offering your help with St. Andrews. Can you please give us the school profile (academic strengths, teacher quality, Sports, Arts, college placement (% of students going to Ivy), nature of students (many math/science geeks or more liberal arts oriented?), diversity, why you chose it? Do you have teams that go to Math/Science Competitions, Debate Team? Thanks.

How are your visual arts/English programs? :D

It depends what you are going to study in terms of English, if it’s creative writing and literature then Edinburgh and St Andrew’s are the top two when it comes to that, Edinburgh is the 1st Unesco capital of the world when it comes to lit and the town invented the crime novel while ‘communication and media’ - St Andrew’s top subject with 100% the number 1 in the UK when it comes to this, this will include media and creative writing. It’s a very fine margin between St Andrew’s, Oxford and Cambridge when it comes to English as a general subject.

For Drama, go to Glasgow university, top Uni in the UK for this, for screenwriting and directing go to Napier university’s Screen Academy Scotland (as it’s on par with the NFTS, one of the elite (which means it is far better than oxford and cambridge as it deals with it as a specialist subject rather than an academic one) and it’s a fraction of the price you will pay at the NFTS in London.

Hope this helps.

St. Andrew’s is a private co-ed boarding school in Middletown, DE. There are roughly 300 students in grades 9-12 and 100% live on campus. St. Andrew’s is very good for english and provides a somewhat competitive atmosphere for all the students. All of the classes are taught by very good teachers; I for one am REALLY happy that i chose this school. The teachers all really care about the students and want everyone to succeed. If they see a problem in your study habits, they will quickly try to help you. There are <14 students per classroom.

Volleyball, Cross Country, Soccer, and Football are offered in the fall for sports; Basketball, Swimming, and Squash are offered during the winter term; and Tennis, Lacrosse, Baseball, and Crew are offered during the spring. During all three terms we offer a Play option. During winter we also offer Mock Trial and a Musical.
