how long it took you guys to do that? is three months enough? i have Chem I bases.

I got a 4. No teacher, no course, started from scratch.

It depends on how much you spend in the three months. For most AP subjects, you can cover the syllabus in 3 weeks if you put enough time into it. I borrowed a Barron's AP Chem book (which has everything you need to know) from my friend and went through it twice in 5 weeks. But that was in the summer vacation, so I could spend 5 hours a day. I didn't look at the book again until late April, though (a big mistake), so I'd forgotten a lot of it and scraped a 4.

My friend got a 4. She took Chemistry Honors for a year, and then studied by herself for the next year to prepare herself for the exam. It's possible.

heythatslife, congrat to you! I am wondering how do you conquer those questions regarding those labs if you didn't attend that class, only depending on reading study guide? Also only Barron's book is enough? do i need to borrow the textbook? and i heard that princton review is the best one.
thank you

same thing with me except I am doing Bio AP. I just bought the Mc Graw Hill AP book and am preparing for the exam in may. For the labs, I think that reading the prep book sections on labs is good enough. (i think.)

wow, AP bio is hard. i am in that class right now. Good luck!
you really need to spend much time on it. i advise you to buy a text book, cuz unlike chem, AP bio has everything from the textbook. Good luck!

Yeah, its hard. I do have a textbook, and it helps much more than just reading the prep book. I have time since I homeschool. :)

I took an honors Chem course, and studied for about 6 weeks on my own w/a practice book (I didn't study that hard, though). I got a 4. Most people who did the same thing, though, did worse, so I guess it depends on how how you understand science. Of course, studying more than I did will probably help a lot.

I had a horribly lousy AP Chem teacher...but I self-studied and got a 4, so it's doable.
