Just out of curiosity, has anyone gotten into Harvard before with low SAT scores like 1800 but great ECs? Like, being a published author and her book is going to be made into a movie, and taken the most challenging courses with over 4.0s, just low scores~

yeah .

Um, yeah. I know one.

That’s cool, it just seems that everyone thinks anything less than 2300 is no chance for Harvard and Ivy Leagues, I’m just wondering if ECs and Grades and Rec letters won’t do much to help with that, I sincerely hope Harvard isn’t just about that 2400

^ Pretty sure it’s not just about the 2400. 1800 might be pushing it a little though.

Haha well hopefully everything else can make up for it, if not then is too bad :(

Yeah, I know at least one.

That’s cool that your book’s being made into a movie, though. If this is too intrusive you don’t have to answer, but what’s the basic plot of your book?

Oh yeah definitely, don’t worry about it. My book is written in Chinese and I signed a 5 year author contract with my agency already, the plot is about a girl who disappeared on her day of graduation and no one can ever find her from then on, not even her boyfriend or her best friends. Then four years later she came back, and then the story starts from there…we shall see what’s going to happen and what DID happen :D

If you guys don’t mind I can put some stat up for chance, but if is too much trouble then is ok

Yep go ahead! I’ll help chance :)

Thanks a lot westsideya I’ll post it now

such a cliched question. seriously how many same questions do people have to ask?

A more original question would be “Anyone got into Harvard with great SAT scores and grades but crappy EC’s, recs and essays?” It actually seems like Harvard admits less of these people than they do people with low SAT+great EC’s.

It just seems like most everyone who got in are with great scores but some not necessarily with great EC’s, so I was just wondering about it, thanks for the answer :)

And thanks to those who might be chancing for me :)

I spoke to a Admissions officer today, and she happened to come across my Application interestingly she began speaking about. I never asked her to, just called to get an answer, but she asked for my name, and began going over it with me. Then she said, “you might be thinking right now as we speak that due to your low test scores you have no chance, will in honest truth, when we have students like that, we look deeper into their application, give it more time to see what they have to say about such low scores, and from what I see, you even have a recommendation letter targeting this area”. Awkward I know, my SAT was at a 1650, however, I had a reason for such low scores. Harvard does not only look at tests like some say, but they look at your maturity level, and how you handle specific situations like mine. So, as long as you have something described in your essay explaining why you had those scores there is a chance!

35,000 Harvard applicants quickly scurry to explain their 2340’s by letter.

@ maserrano, wow, I do not have anything close to a 2300 period. However I have a circumstance which distinguishes me from others. But really 35,000 applicants, do that??

Sorry if I construed that incorrectly, I was being sarcastic in a general sense. I don’t actually think that’ll happen, rather I’m mocking the person with a 2340 SOMEWHERE that is panicking about their scores. Silly rabbit, trix are for kids.
