okay nice to know thank you

Thanks 10 chars

Does an invitation to spring visitation weekend mean you have been accepted?

And how is the psychology department at Notre Dame?

Yeah it does. They send mail you letter April 1

I am currently a senior at ND. My brother is waiting for his letter. If anyone has any questions I would be happy to answer!

hawkswim: How do you deal with the weather? I’m from Florida and I won’t be too used to the weather change if i go to ND. Are you from somewhere warm? Thanks!

i am from rhode island so i am used to the cold weather. however i know some people from california. at the beginning it was tough for them, but they wore layers of clothing and got through it. It makes you enjoy spring all the more. you will complain about the cold weather, even i do, but you just have to get through it. the school does a pretty good job clearing the paths and such so that is not an issue.

Can anyone tell me what size envelope their acceptance came in?
I am getting NERVOUS!!! LOL! :-)

the papers inside are 8 1/2 by 11 for the acceptance package so the actual package is a little bit bigger.

Thanks, Hawk for answering my question. I have been reading along
and finding out lots of information that is so helpful! Hopeful from
Louisiana…

hawkswim - as I recall you were very active on the architecture major board last year while you were applying and seemed very excited about majoring in architecture. Would you mind sharing why you changed? Did you not enjoy your classes?

hey, i’m so so anxious/nervous just like the rest of y’all to hear back!!

ndsenior2010 - (or anyone else who has an opinion!) I’m very religious (Roman Catholic) and have been extremely involved in my parish throughout high school - for my supplemental essay I even focused on my faith and how it has shaped me as a person. Do you think this will have any effect on my application?

i have a question… were letters actually sent today or is that a myth?

Hi Hawkswim09,

About my major switch: I was always very good with math and science but I thought that I could handle art pretty well and so I went for the combination of all three: architecture. However, ND architecture is a lot more art than I thought. I am not as good at art as I thought and the process of watercolor was something that I in no way was able to come even close to being good at. In addition, unless you are the best time manager, I think it will be very difficult to avoid very little social life outside of architecture if you are active in even just one job or club. architecture takes up a lot of your time and you will be up past 2:00 or 3:00 in the morning at least once to finish a project. from what i have seen, architecture this semester is a grand time eater - you will push everything back to finish architecture which may hurt you overall GPA. I did not like the drawing class first semester and was not getting any better over the course of the semester. Architecture at ND is a lot of hand based and very little computer applications - and I really liked computer applications of architecture. I have really enjoyed engineering this semester - a lot more computer based technology and more math and science (I am in civil engineering by the way). If this is not enough, you can ask any other questions, I don’t mind answering questions about my switch if it helps other people.

maddy - first off, I don’t really like saying that you are in or out, instead I like to give advice to improving your application, because no one ever has the perfect application - grades look very solid, SAT looks average for ND - if you can get it up to mid 2000s or anywhere in the 2100s it would help the application (right now it really isn’t doing much for the application) … ecs are very interesting. I would say that you need to develop a leadership position in a least one club, but honestly i would like to see the autism club developed more. I think that if you could really improve the organization then that would appear as a great eye-catching ec on the app. ND is looking for people who have a passion and then used hard work to build a legacy in that field and really improved the club/organization that they are passionate about … i would say for any underclassman in high school, identify the passion and start building your legacy.

hope that helps.

I am coming with my family next week, my son is a junior. Can we eat at one of the dining halls? Which one would be best? We will proabbly get there a few hours before the 2pm tour, do you recommend any places to visit on campus that may not be on the tour? Can he request an interview since we will not be getting out there again?

Thanks for any input. We are looking forward to seeing the campus

^^
Consider eating at South Dining Hall.

Pay a visit to the Career Center–in this economy and for the future!

ND does not do individual interview during any part of the application process - eat at South Dining Hall but avoid the 12:40 rush (if you can go at like 1:15 it may be better b/c on Monday, Wednesday and Friday a class gets over at 12:35 and a lot of students go right to the dining hall, so for 15-30 minutes it is usually packed. - the tour is pretty comprehensive so you will see mostly everything there is to see.

Does ND looks as SAT/ACTs, somewhat as a prime factor in bases of an admission decision?
