Colgate didn't say computers have to be "pre approved" they just sent information about what mininmum requirements were in order to fully utilize the University network. Mostly that, if a PC it needs to run Win 2000 XP Pro (not Home). A few other recommendations but no preapproval.

thanks for the clarification mhc!

by the way, for those post-orientation, do AP credits get you out of the MAP math/science classes? On another post someone was saying that for the class of 2009, AP scores don't get you out of math. And, if so, does this mean everyone has to take the placement test? The stuff that they sent in the mail seemed to imply that AP scores [4 or 5] meant you didn't have to?

I'm a little confused, and dreading the idea of taking math...heh. Any info would be much appreciated :)

AP credits do get you out of math and/or science. You need at least a 4 on them though. (Damn my 3s in physics and calc...argh)

AP credits CANNOT get you out of a math course at Stern. They can only provide advanced placement (if you want).

Oh, yeah sorry I forgot to clarify. I was talking about CAS, I'm not sure about the other schools. Also, if you're a pre-med major or something that has to do with math and you're going to have to take math anyway, the AP test score just places you in a higher level.
