So, unfortunately, the only time I’ll be able to visit NYU is next week during my Spring Break, when I’m visiting some family in CT. I didn’t know I was going until today, so I wasn’t able to register for a tour before they all filled up. Would it be a bad idea to just show up to an information session time + tour anyway? Thanks in advance!
Probably. If I recall properly, they have to check your name off on a list and give you a Guest sticker.
I don’t think it matters. There are so many visitors for admission and NYU is open-minded.
However, it is always better to call them in the office, explain your situation and time pressure and ask for an additional spot. I am sure they will gladly let you in.
But please be understood that NYU does not really care if you show a ‘demonstrated interest’ such as attending the campus tour or info session. Interview is not even a requirement. My son has not had an interview and was accepted.
There are just so many people applying to NYU (67,000+ this year) and they would have no time figuring out if this guy participated in the school tour. LoL.
@jyc1230 @fedorable Thank you both for your replies! I’m going to call ahead and explain my situation and if things don’t work out, we’ll probably just look around on our own.
@zahmata Looking around on your own isn’t too bad of an idea. For the most part, you can get all of the information from the tour online, and you don’t go into any buildings besides MAYBE the lobby of the library, the auditorium that the introduction is conducted and the lobby of Weinstein Hall.
If you have any particular questions I’m happy to answer them, since I currently attend.
