We have enrolled JAHPhotoKid in our public high school pursuant to conversations with the schools where she’s waitlisted. There may be a space, some day, but given her high FA need, we are moving on with our lives. I encouraged her to look at the very fine Jr. Boarding School in our area for 9th grade (great academics, sports and music, SSAT prep courses, counselors, etc) but for some reason she finds the idea repugnant. She went there through second grade (and loved it ) but something about the idea upsets her.

I think there were two kids in my school that got off the waitlist for Taft, but the waitlist for Taft is closed now.

I know a few people who got off waitlists, but it has never happened to me personally. Alas, best of luck to y’all! ;)

My daughter was offered a spot off a waitlist a few days ago. She turned it down though, so there is hope for someone else out there…

I got off of NMH’s WL in the beginning of April, but I had a bit of a special situation so I’m not sure if they took anyone else off or what.

@easvas can i ask what the special situation was? and @momthree which school took your daughter off the waitlist

@justgolf I will pm you in a bit.

thank you at @easvas and @momthree

@MomThree Hello! At what school was your daughter taken off the Wait List recently?

@easvas i never got the pm

How are you notified that you are off the waitlist? The admissions office said they’d call, but my parents said whatever way they choose to announce a closed WL or acceptance/rejection, there would be an accompanied email. Which is correct??

Phone call.

Do you think they’d email if somehow the phone call was missed? I’m really nervous and feel like they already called or forgot about me… :/

bsroxmysox - I know this is tough, but if possible, please try and distract yourself and try to refocus on something besides thinking/worrying about getting off the waitlist. This is a situation where all you can do is wait - and I know that is really, really hard. If they want to get in touch with you, they will call every phone number in your file, and email, and do whatever it takes to get in contact. No news isn’t necessarily bad news - it’s just the nature of being on a waitlist.

What do you love to do? Read - play or listen to music - get out in nature - do something to help someone else - watch a great, funny movie like “The Princess Bride” - in short, get busy dong ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that will keep you busy and occupied.

Best of luck to you -
