Anyone Heard from Boco Yet?

I auditioned for Boco in mid January. They said if they definitely wanted you or didn't want you, you'd hear in "a few weeks." But if you DON'T hear they're still holding your application, presumably until and if someone better comes along OR if they need to dip into the waiting pool.

So, has anyone who auditioned for BoCo heard back? And in what form (email, letter, etc?) and how soon? Yes, I'm flipping out and I feel I am perfectly entitled to do it :) Please let me know if you've heard anything from them! Thanks from not-so-modern millie.

Hmmm…maybe they changed things but when my own kid applied and was accepted, as well as students I know since that time, all found out at one time around April 1 by snail mail. Obviously they just told you something different. I would not worry at this time that you don’t know yet. I don’t know that anyone knows their results yet at BOCO. Those who applied in this year’s cycle can chime in of course.

Not sure who “they” are but MT acceptances do not go out until the end of March as Soozievt mentioned.

“They” were the man and woman who heard monologues and songs. Not makin’ this up, dad.

I know of a boy who was already accepted. On the spot, apparently, in Atlanta.

Well, at least now I know I am not in that elite category, but I kinda knew that already. I consider myself very good, but eminently trainable, and hope that get me in somwhere.

Well, I don’t mean to sound racist or sexist in anyway, but he was a male and he was African American. On top of being very talented, that helps a lot in the college search. It’s harder for us females (I’m assuming you’re a girl) in the musical theatre business since there’s more, especially white females like myself. Just a fact.

I would not rule BoCo out yet at all and wish you the best of luck wherever you go! :)

My D auditioned in 2008 and they told her at the audition that “Expect to hear good news from us at the end of March.”

She was excited to get that positive response verbally, but I remember her then saying to me “But I will believe it when the big fat packet arrives – IF it does! I am not holding my breath.”

She was accepted, but the official news did not come until the regular response time for BoCo, which was (as I recall) in late March/early April. It came in an email and then was followed by a snail mail packet.

I stand corrected modernmille. There will be an “effort” made to get the definite no’s out as soon as possible (next few weeks). That is a change in policy beginning this year. And yes there are a few students that are accepted on the spot. They are usually the 10 or 15 students that EVERYONE wants and the competition for those few is fierce. If a school lands 5 of those students, they are overjoyed.

Hearing about on the spot acceptances should discourage no one. You could be as many as 200 students on the yes check list. This is where you need to stand out in voice, acting or dancing.

And yes AlexaMT you are correct. There are so many more girls then boys auditioning and most programs want a 50/50 mix. I also believe that most programs also want as much diversity in their programs as possible (that also includes short or fat kids or kids with odd voices).

Good luck to all!

Hey Guys!!!

I am the guy you are talking about…I was accepted at my audition in Atlanta but like it was mentioned above I will not get my official letter/package/scholarship/etc until everyone else finds out.

Being black, or blue or green doesn’t really matter as long as you embrace the things that are unique about yourself and have the talent to back it up. At least that is what I was always told. Yeah it sucks to be another brown hair white girl in a sea of people who look just like you but aside from your outward appearance there have to be things that set you apart(whether it be your height, weight, sense of humor, etc). There were multiple TALENTED people of color at my audition and I feel exceedingly blessed for this honor but I think it has more to do with the hours and hours of stressing and practicing and questioning(that we all do) that really paid off in the end. I know that isnt AT ALL what you were trying to say but I dont want anybody reading to get the wrong idea.

I am sure you are perfect and that you are going to do fine. Just find something to occupy your time(the hardest thing ever, Im like biting my nails off waiting to hear about CCM) and trust the work you did in that audition and you will TAKE THE NIGHT!!!

Other than that…I love going to school and having my teachers ask why I am late or having my haters ask why I have such a huge smile on my face.

I just say “I’m going to BOCO”!!!

2014 GETS ET!

Honestly, who wouldn’t want someone with an attitude like that! I have a feeling that you will go far, no matter where you go.

Humchun, are you the young man from Florida? If so, we talked to you both days (BoCo and CCM) and congratulations! It’s fantastic to get an immediate offer!

Oh my gosh! This is so funny, you and S have been in my thoughts so heavily lately, tried to find him on facebook to no avail. Thank you so much, you really helped me relax at the auditions by showing me that there were REAL PEOPLE there lol. I hope everything is going awesomely, we should exchange emails!

P.S: I still get a giggle about me and S in the dance calls…:D

humchun102 and I were both accepted on the spot. (we are kinda facebook best friends now)

I was accepted from the Chicago Unifides. I was second to last to audition on the first day of auditions there. Neil, director of the musical theatre program, informed me of my acceptance directly following my audition. We also sat and discussed things for about 15 minutes after too.

I think it is the best school for me and am planning on accepting!

Best of luck to everyone during this stressful audition season.

Warm Regards,

EMH

At the 2008 auditions, my D was also told she would receive an offer. She did not officially hear until the last Friday in March along with everyone else- BoCo puts up the list at 5 PM on Fri.- supposedly so they don’t have to field phone calls until everyone cools down on Mon. They notify you via the internet but I don’t remember now if it was by e-mail or on their website. Great attitude Humchun- you will do well wherever you end up!

BoCo was the last school my D heard from last year and it was via email. I don’t remember the specifics, but it was nearer the end of March.

I was at BOCO on the weekend auditioning for the MM in music theatre program and they told us the acceptances go out: March 15th for grad school and April 1st for undergrad. It also says that in the literature they were handing out. Hope that helps!!

After my vocal auditioned they told me that we could hear by March 27th most likely by email. Then a freshman I spoke to mentioned that we would hear April 1st snail mail. Ehsing4fun- whats your demographics- male/female, voice part…?

he’s male/tenor and beyond FIERCE.
