Anyone heard from Cal Poly Pomona yet?

Lol we are all FTF ME waitlisters, still no reply.

So for now im heading to UCR, and you guys?

@angeleno, yeah we’re transfers.

So far most of my friends that applied transfer to CPP for various degrees (CS, MechE, ChemE, EE, etc) have all been denied with the except of 2 moderate GPA applicants. One has a 4.0 with all pre-reqs finished+AS-T and got accepted to UCB but got denied to CPP…

@dimas1227, you sound like a good kid. I have a feeling they’ll accept you towards the summer, just like they’ve done years past when they’ll realize all those kids didn’t choose CP Pomona over Stanford, Berkeley Harvey Mudd and Cal Tech (…Hmmm, I wonder why?). Just hang in there!!

I wish that they’d release the standard deviation from the average EI so we could tell if we have a chance on the waitlist. /:

@petrarch thank you! Im humble and just waiting to see if pomona does open its doors for us waiting.

Is it easy to get into cal poly pomona under hotel management major? I know someone got into cal poly pomona with act score 18. I am wondering if I can also get accepted…Cal poly pomona is my dream school and I really want to get accepted…
My average gpa is 3.9 and I am getting about 20 act score on act practice test…

Its one of the best programs in the country, and i think its impacted. Good luck.

Btw dont be surprised if you are left waiting like the rest of us

@derangedcorgi

May I ask what were the GPA’s of your friends who got in? I am trying to figure out how cal poly choose applicants. It’s obviously not all based on GPA, as I have heard of some people who got in with lower GPA’s than me. Not to mention your friend with a 4.0 getting rejected.

@drugon

They were all transfers, ~3.2 CS, (3.5 CCgpa, ~2.9 cumuliative) Acc. These were the only two that got in, the others were either flat out rejected or had their admissions rescinded for miscellaneous reasons.

Hmmm, that’s interesting.

I know they factor in distance from school, but I’m starting to think they also factor in ethnicity, gender, and income. I don’t see what else they could be using and be accepting the applicants they are. It isn’t like we wrote essays on our application.

And rescinded for miscellaneous reasons? I’m sure they were “good” reasons.

Anyway, thanks for the reply.

For clarification we were all Asian so that criteria kind of gets knocked out. Technically they’re not supposed to take race/gender into consideration since it’s a public school. I don’t know why they were rescinded, one was that she didn’t have “enough” major pre-reqs done for the major (missing 2 non-essential), the rest are unknown. They don’t care anyways since they got into their reach schools. I don’t care since I only wanted to go to cpp because of the easy commute, I like CSULB’s campus/area much better.

Alright, than that does through out my ideas. haha. And congratulations on getting into CSUlB and good luck.

Alright, last time I’ll mention it.

Are there still ME Majors out there who haven’t gotten anything back? I’m still listed as waitlist.

I’m an FTF in ME, and am still shown as waitlisted. My GPA/SAT numbers are very close to the average across all incoming freshman in the College of Engineering last fall. So either (a) ME is much more competitive than Engineering in general, and/or (b) it has gotten a lot more competitive this year.

I’d be interested to know – has anyone been accepted off the waitlist in ME in May or June? If so, what are your numbers like?

Hey guys lol i remember you both, yup we are still ME waiting …
Its sad in a way.

So where r u guys heading now?

@dimas CSULB. I turned down a UCR spot as I need to commute, and it would’ve been too far for me. Passed the MDPT and am clear for Calc 1, and will be registering for classes next week. If something were to come through at CPP I’d definitely still consider it, though I’m getting closer to the time when a change won’t be feasible.

I expected to see a bump in admissions from the CPP waitlist in May, going on the assumption that some people would be releasing spots because CPP for them was a backup to other schools. But I don’t know of anyone here or elsewhere who’s gotten accepted to ME from the waitlist.

@Angeleo nice, well I am going to UCR. I turned down CSULB lol. Ironic. Your right its getting to the point where it might be to late if anything opens up at CPP. Its sad i really wish i went there.

Do you know if you can transfer from UC to CSU? If i can i will consider switching in a few years

@dimas Funny! Hope everything works out for you there.

Can’t say I know too much about transfers. I get the impression from some messages I read that CSU’s may focus on CC transfers rather than people coming in from other types of schools, but don’t really know. If anything more applicants might be CSU → UC. You might want to be careful with classes – I’ve also heard that not everything transfers. Maybe some of the transfers here or on other forums would have better info.

Is anyone getting accepted this late into the summer? They’ve waited this long in years past. Just wondering.

I haven’t heard of anyone being accepted from the waitlist. Bronco still shows me as being waitlisted. Has anyone gotten any communication (acceptance or final denial) after being waitlisted?
