Anyone heard from Cal Poly Pomona yet?

Just checked my status today out of curiosity and it said that I was admitted for architecture. I don’t know how long it has been that way. Last time I checked was probably 2-3 weeks ago.

@thelibero,
stats? are you planning on accepting?

@TheLibero hey congrats! Just wanted to know your stats cause I’m still waiting to hear from them and I applied with the same major

Were u able to deposit on time or r u going to another school?

3.9 weighted GPA, 1780 or 1790 SATs. I already committed to Penn State for architecture which is like 30,000 dollars more expensive than Cal Poly or something so I’m not 100% yet.

@thelibero,

If I were you, I would seriously reconsider. Considering how low the pay will be as an architect, It would make no sense to go over 100k in debt for an undergrad degree. You’ll spend your whole life trying to pay it off. Cal Poly Pomona is just about the cheapest architecture degrees in the country after Cooper, which I believe is free not including NY rent. Just in the past year, CPP has had lectures by Thom Mayne and Tadao Ando, both Pritzker price winners which is like the Nobel prize of architecture. In other words, you’ll still get a top notch education. Plus, many professors have also taught at neighboring schools such as USC, Sci Arc and UCLA. You’ll have design studios for 9 hours a week for the entire 5 years with under 15-20 students. But on the other hand, if you’re into football, CPP can’t beat Penn State. We don’t even have a team!!

^What petrarch said is spot on. No school is worth the 100k. Plus the city of Los Angeles’s architecture is the “Mecca” of high-end architectural ideas.

tum741: PCC is not a bad cc, just kind of bad that they don’t have much math, physics, chemistry classes in their honors program (mainly just english/history)

also, anyone here (or one of your friends) applied as ChemE? If so can you post stats?
I want to see if I atleast have a chance… thanks

Were you at least waitlisted? Have any Chem E’s been waitlisted?
I know I don’t have a chance, lol.

How do we waitlist anyways?

SIGH May 14, 2012. Two weeks after being put on the wait list. Fall 2012 registration starts today, yet still on ‘Application Received’. I am soo ****ed.

^What is your major? You were already wait listed so you have a shot (You actually got a letter/e-mail saying you were wait listed, right?)

@x14sta
You are told you are wait listed, and then you have to accept/decline the offer. I haven’t heard anything, so I pretty much know I’m done (Unless the Chem E department never sent out any wait list, but I find that highly unlikely)

Tenseig4: yeah im on the wait list 3.88 gpa/ 450 reading 530 math
pretty bad scores i know i only got to take it once and barely finished, i hope that doesnt ruin the chances…

How do I tell them I want to be waitlisted? All I heard is that it’s done for me or something

^You don’t tell them. They offer you the wait list and you either accept or decline to be on it.

No they just sent us an email that we r on the waitlist. U probly were waitlisted and didn’t see the email

Sent from my Desire HD using CC

Because the last e-mail I received was

“You have been placed on our waitlist and your admission status at Cal Poly Pomona will continue to display “Application Received” at this time. If additional spaces open for fall, we will admit students on our waitlist on a space available basis. I expect that we will notify students on our waitlist of their admission status by June 1, 2012.”

So I assume I’m placed on the waitlist… Unless there’s something more to do… Which wasn’t instructed.

There’s nothing else we have to do but wait. Since registration opened today, we should get our decisions very soon I hope.

Hopefully there’s still room for registration sometime soon :/!!

And Thank you, Tum741 for resolving my little misunderstanding. It’s very well appreciated =D

I’m just wondering, when is the registration date for classes for everyone here who’s been admitted?
