Anyone heard from Tisch thats from the US?

I think that's only for regular decision. They sometimes invite you to events before you're officially accepted but it basically means you're in.

Ohhh ok. Well I wasn't sure. I was a little skeptical when I first heard that, but my friend insisted he was right when he told me. 0_0

I guess I am wrong. Well whatever. We will see. I have a feeling that it's coming tomorrow. Latest Monday.

I'm not gunna be able to stay sane until monday lol

I wish I had something to do for the next 20~ hours. Maybe something will come up, soon.

Oh by the way, not to be creepy or anything... bimachris---I watched your film on youtube. You posted the link on one of the threads. Very intense! What kind of camera did you use to film it? Is that the movie you sent for the portfolio review?

I'm not sure if NYU will like my film. It's a tad controversial, or it just deals with really 'emotionally gripping' material. But I think they will like yours. :)

Haha yeah it is! Thanks man, not creepy in the slightest yo! Lmao, you know what, actually spread the word. Did you subscribe? :D

I filmed on a HV20, the quality on youtube is so bad though. Only thing I wish I could have done differently was to leave out the bloopers...they seemed kind of immature. Oh well, too late now haha.

Nah, NYU loves controversial stuff. What was yours about?

You're from Boston? I also applied EA to Emerson as a backup. BU's my third choice is all else fails. Have you visited either one of those schools?

Tisch School of the Arts - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Was just reading the film curriculum. Sigh...it sounds so awesome.

I filmed with an HD Sony HVR V1U/1. My movie is about a girl with HIV who is afraid that her new love will judge her because of her disease. Although she is terrified of people finding out about her promiscuous disease, she does not realize that she herself is in fact extremely judgmental. It's kind of strange and spunky and dramatic like most of my films. I would put it on youtube, but my file is too large.

I didn't really watch the credits on your film, but I'm sure it will be ok. Most likely they will just evaluate you on your actual film not the credits.

Yeah I also applied EA to Emerson! I'm applying to BU also for RD (if I don't get into NYU). I live right near both campuses so I've been around there a lot. I really liked BU (not as much as NYU) and Emerson was ok. Emerson isn't as diverse as NYU or BU. It's extremely homogeneous.

I looked at the Film curriculum and I was stunned. I was literally drooling. It's amazing, absolutely amazing. I especially love the "Women in the Director's Chair" class. I wish there were more female directors. I'm basically the only girl in my school interested in film. It's sad :(

Sounds very intriguing. :) Good luck! Have you been filming a lot? My music video was the first solo film project I did.

Haha hopefully they clicked off right after the credits.

Nice! Good luck! Emerson decisions come out next week! Aw, that sucks. Makes me not want to go to Emerson. I was actually split between Emerson and BU because I thought Emerson would be really focused on visual arts and I won't get a well rounded education in other areas like language, history, etc. I would find all that at BU, but I wasn't sure if their film program was as good.

Haha I guess that makes you stand out!

Lol I haven't been even thinking about Emerson. I'm mostly thinking about NYU. I actually forgot that the Emerson decisions were coming out on Monday ><

I've done a lot of filmmaking for about the past six years, but I really started to get professional about it (scripts, shot lists, edit lists, different camera positioning) about three years ago. I worked at a production company last summer so that was fun. I thought your film was really really good! I especially liked the ending. I thought that was effective.

Hahaa I don't think being female makes me stand out at all. But hopefully they will see something in my application. What did you write your essay on?

Hey Chris, I showed my friend, who is a bit of an amateur filmmaker himself (although not nearly as good as you, as he told me), your film and here was a bit of his criticism. He thought it was very well done for being a student amateur film and that the HD version definitely helped out. He said you're pretty knowledgeable about blur/unblur techniques and that your general camera work was pretty darn good. Some things that clearly pointed out that it was an amateur movie, in his eyes, was the whole scene with the girl crying in front of the photo was a bit too repetitious. Also the ending was a bit predictable in his eyes.

He is in no means an expert, so don't take his advice to mean too much. But, at the same time, he thought it was incredibly well done for a student film which should make you feel great!

The classes and the profs are amazing. My dd was accepted in to the Summer high school film program last summer. She raved about the classes, the equipment, the teachers, TA's and just about everything else. It was everything she dreamed it would be....she is keeping everything crossed she gets in this time round.

earo - Haha too much NYU on the mind for Emerson huh? Six years? Nice. I just got really interested in directing last year, cause I finally realized that was what I wanted to do with my life. Cause I use to write a lot of stories, and I always knew I didn't want to have an average, day to day job. When the light bulb went off, I just saw my whole life being layed out for me. First step: NYU! :) haha

Thanks! You're gunna have to show me your film when we see each other in the fall. ;) It's only fair, lmao. I wrote my dramatic essay on my morning routine rushing to catch the bus everyday. It was hard stretching four minutes into four pages, but I think it came out good. You can read it if you want.

Tiny - Haha thanks! Tell your friend I said thanks too! And subscribe to me on youtube! lmao. Blur/unblur is actually a really easy effect, a lot easier than it looks. Well, it's a music video, which generally have a repeating scene while everything else happens. Haha yeah the ending, lol. A lot of my friends bagged on me for putting string in there, but I was like, hey we were low budget, couldn't afford anything else! lmao

That's weird. I not only got the acceptance e-mail yesterday, but the ups package as well.

I got into Tisch, and the package was dated Dec. 5th, which is a little weird because it only arrived yesterday, and I didn't get LSP'ed. With me living Seoul, you would think I would get my decision later as opposed to earlier.

Good luck guys, you'll probably get it by Monday.

^ Nice! Congrads! The 5th? Wow must have took a while, probably why they sent it so early. What program? Stats?

I GOT ACCEPTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TO TISCH FILM/TELEVISION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I JUST FOUND OUT TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so excited and I can't wait to meet you all next year!!!!

what did it come in??

Nothing in Georgia today! :-(

Nor in the mail in Illinois (but my D said a male friend from her summer program got his Tisch acceptance today and he lives in California). We did get the lovely NYU Academic Expectations booklet, though!

Nothing in PA either...but my dd's summer tisch roommate in NJ got accepted. Good sign I hope.

i got in! i live in CA!
