D was accepted into MT with partial scholarship… grant and loan info to follow. Now to decide on CM, BOCO or Ithaca. Will depend on financial awards.

S’s acceptance just said the same thing about financial aid to follow. No word of a scholarship. Most others have included the scholarship money in the acceptance letter. Getting worried because we did not apply for financial aid.

D accepted to MT - but no mention of scholarship in the letter - just financial aid to follow. This will be a big deciding factor on her choices - Syracuse and NYU Tisch both offered scholarships and financial aids! All her top 3 schools!

Congrats to your D Paradise! Good choices. Hopefully BOCO will award merit money shortly.

Daughter got the acceptance today - great news!!! But - must wait for news on overall financial package as BOCO is so expensive. We have saved for college, but not that much!!! Seems like we make too much for financial aid (not really!!!) and not enough to pay on our own!! How are others considering paying for college - espcially with the high price tag like BOCO if that’s the final choice?

Sorry - forgot to mention - acceptance to the BFA in Musical Theatre!!

D accepted to BoCo BFA MT with scholarship. She is very happy. BoCo and CMU were her top picks. She did not apply to 11 programs that seem the norm for many applicants because she had no desire to live in certain states, e.g., TX, OK, MI, NY. and being accepted just for the sake of being accepted had no appeal to her. She wanted to study with the best while living in a city she loves, Boston or Pittsburgh.
Your advice was appreciated Soozievt! : )

Mama1spice, congrats to your D and I’m glad it all worked out for her.

I surely don’t recommend applying to schools just for the sake of being accepted where the school has no appeal. My children only applied to schools they were interested in attending. That said they knew they were entering highly competitive admissions processes, and even though they were competitive candidates, they applied to 8 colleges, not 3. They had very good outcomes but applying to just three was going to be way too chancy for us. Generally, I don’t advise that and I also advise finding more than one or two schools where you can be happy and get a great education and are located in states you are fine with living in.

Hi All, question for Joans1942, you mentioned getting the email today and I see your post at 1am (Sunday). Did you get the email on Sunday or Saturday? My D applied to boco but we have not gotten any email decision as of yet. Just still seem to be waiting…Thanks

Was scholarship info included in some of the acceptance letters?!?!

I received my acceptance via e-mail yesterday at about one o’clock. They send a link notifying you that your decision is ready to be viewed. The e-mail is not the decision letter, so don’t freak when you open it. Then you have to sign in with the account that you used to apply to the school initially. Then there is a link at the bottom of the screen and THAT takes you to the letter. Financial aid is mailed snail mail separately. GOOD LUCK

My D’s acceptance letter included scholarship info.

So far 3 girls on here have reported scholarships. Does this mean the others are not getting them? Most of their money usually goes to boys. Freaking out just a little.

@horselover1 - My D did not have any scholarship disclosed in her letter. Still waiting BoCo financial aid package. And this is a BIG factor in deciding between BoCo, NYU Tisch and SU (the last two giving scholarships and financial aid) - with all of my 3 kids in college next fall.

Opps, apologies for having two posts of similar message - on scholarship and choices. Better focus on work now :)

Our S had scholarship in letter with FAid package to follow. Very excited to go visit - he got accepted to Pace (NY) also - anyone have opinions about Pace VS BoCo?

Did not receive an actual letter directly from BOCO - daughter signed on to her account on Saturday afternoon (4/1) and found the acceptance letter there. Did not mention a scholarship offer, letter said that a financial aid package will be forthcoming. Perhaps that means she did not get offered a scholarship. Will call the office today and ask about that, and then wait for the official package from them.

Question for Thistle33:
So, the scholarhip information was in the acceptance letter when your daughter signed on to her BOCO account? Congrats on the scholarship - that’s fantastic! If I may be so bold as to ask, are you pleased with the amount? Signifcant? Just not sure how much BOCO offers in the way of scholarships from year to year. Thanks!!

Hi Jones1942! Thanks and congrats to your D as well! Yes, the scholarship was mentioned within the acceptance letter that was in her BoCo account online. I hope you understand that we are keeping all financial information private. I can tell you that while we feel extremely lucky that my D received a scholarship, BoCo is just plain expensive with or without a scholarship! Best of luck to you and your D!!
