Anyone here still waiting on their financial aid package??

Sorry if this is a horribly raw answer but:

I use JTF for scheduling issues, and I reach there by typing “JTF” into the search bar on cornell.edu

I use the Bursar Bill to pay my fees, and I reach there by typing “Bursar” into the search bar on cornell.edu.

Literally, that simple. Just the way I’ve learned things haha, and it works so I stick to it :D

If you haven’t check Bursar yet, I think you should do so soon; first payments are due Aug 11 O_O

Yes, I know, I’m a rising junior ; P

I was confused at first because when people say bursar, a lot of people mean the account activity section in JTF.

What I find annoying is that bills are printed only once a month on NetPay. As a result, I usually get a bill for 23K+, my parents freak out, we guesstimate how much we’re supposed to be paying, and a month or two later my financial aid is finally reflected on NetPay. The bursar account activity section in JTF, however, is actually update-able.

Unfortunately, my aid still hasn’t show up anywhere yet, ha.

Has anyone still not received their aid package?

I still haven’t, though I did get a reply for my email saying that my package is “awaiting review”.

I highly suggest you give them a call haha

Yeah, I’ve been bugging them but all they’re telling me is that my file is awaiting review. What’s even more funny is that you could very quickly tell by looking at my family’s tax returns that we’re going to qualify for that zero parent contribution initiative, so aside from deciding how to spread out all of my grants and work-study it shouldn’t be too hard to determine how much aid I’m legally supposed to get. Oh well, I guess having to wait is a small price to pay for generous aid…

itd be really ■■■■■■■■ if below 60k has no parent contribution and someone who has family income of 61k pays 10k parent contribution hahaha

and i still didn’t get mine yet, still says

2010 Cornell University Inquiry access denied.

how about your bursar account?
what is the total amount that you owe? has your aid been deducted from the total?

Do freshmen get some different site to check their bursar accounts or something? Are you talking about NetPay? They only print bills once a month on NetPay. It’s not updatable, so all I see is the initial bill of ~22K before financial aid. Aid typically doesn’t get disbursed until mid to late August anyway, so you might see it as pending financial aid but not as credit.

As for my account activity on JTF, bursar has not listed any pending credits yet, so my decision definitely is not in the system yet. But at least I have a pretty good idea of what it’ll be… they said to make a good guess if my aid doesn’t arrive on time and pay or be refunded the difference later.

did any returning students get their aid recently? im still waiting for mine and it’s august already!! :(

I know a few ppl who haven’t gotten theirs yet, but yeah it’s getting kind of ridiculous.

well last year i got mine after the deadline to pay, like a bit more than a week before school started, so im not worried haha. expected cornell FA to be slow anyway

so after months of waiting, and over 10 calls, the finacial aid office discovers that my financial aid has been done as of the beginning of june, and they had just forgotten to allow me access to the student center. ridiculous.

More infuriating still, after poring over the bursars bill and my financial aid, they dont match up! has anyone else had htis probelm?

I am still waiting on mine. I’ve been bugging them incessantly and they finally told me they’d hurry it up. Though it’s possible they’re just saying that to make me shut up.

I think I have had that happen numerous times before. However, I don’t think they’ve actually ever made a real error on mine. It is because Cornell’s billing is very confusing sometimes.

Your bill on NetPay is printed once a month, so it may be outdated. You can use your latest bill as a reference, but you should be checking your account activity on JTF. Make sure that all of the financial aid you’re supposed to get (less your work-study) is listed as credits or pending credits on JTF. Make sure all your charges make sense (ie you weren’t double charged or something). The difference between your charges and your credits or pending credits should be the correct amount you owe.

If you are confused because your bill and your expected contribution on your financial aid letter don’t match up, well, they aren’t supposed to. The dollar value on your letter is simply an estimate, though it should be pretty close to the actual amount you end up paying.

I hope that helped/I didn’t just tell you what you already knew.
