Anyone here worries about having to start college in an older age?

and im applying Ed 1 as Wash U. was contemplating Wash & lee as Ed 2. any ideas where i should do ed 2? its not very reputed for business.

notre dame has only EA. Lehigh has no aid for ED.

sorry, my misinterpretation. i visited their website n didn;t go around fully until i foud a webpsage saying muslims, hindus, christians, jews, etc can gather and discusss their ideas. there are services and all that but i suppose it's jesuit in the teaching, as in teaching mind, soul and spirit, kind of thing. heavy on community sercvice i thnik, which is nice.

did u get a billiken's choice application email from them?

aren;t u allowed to apply ed to only one school, regardless of ed1 or ed2? i would check the fine print of the "contract" you sign w/ wustl's application. i don't know much of lehigh except i liked its sciences...

yea, got the Billiken choice application; you got it too?

do they give it out to everyone?

no, i meant applying wash U ed 1 and then if rejected, which ill be most probably, doing ed2.

when will you be given your wustl ed1 decision? In time to apply ED2 to Wash & Lee?

I got biliken choice app, too. (How did they get your name? I don't remember giving them mine..) I'm assuming they give it to strong SAT I's apps who do the whole CB.com "Stduent Services" o something...and who put a strong interest in a major st. louis uni has... I know I did...

i have no clue how i got it, jus popped into my mailbox. i think i filled out a form requestion brochures from business schools at apply4admissions.com and i think it had a SAT section. maybe its given to above average SAT scoreres.

and i was like well, hell, if they giving me a fee waiver, no essays, and all that, and since they have quite good merit scolarship, ill apply RD.

and ed 1 notices come around mid december. Ed 2 is usually first week of jan. the dates are not the issue. chossing the college for ed 2 is.

which major you wanna do?

biochem, hopefully

I filled it out too, and unfortunately, you also have to apply regularly. With counselor recommendation, an essay (I'm just going to grab an history assignemnt) and transcript sent. But it's pretty easy compared to others (no teacher recs. but if you want scholarship, you also gotta add a resume of EC's and leadership positions and all that. :() Scholarship deadline is dec 1. priority.

soryr, can't help with ed2 school. but if wash & lee gives you good business, go ahead!

where u applying?

and ill be applying for scolarship, i assume u will too. dec 1 means right between ed 1 and ed 2. is this thing binding?

nah, it's not binding.

Applying to...hmm...lemme try t find my list. preliminary list: antioch, bates, cornell college, carleton, knox, macalester, middlebury, mt. holyoke, wesleyan, drake uni, kent state uni... i think that's it... I crossed of jhu cause it was too big and too...tough.. blush

reminds me.. did any of u get this from Florida Tech? here's an extract frm the email:

sad they don't give out enough intl aid! :(

sounds a lot like st. loius' billikin's choice app. see if there's a catch - have to submit reg. app anyway, w/ essay for scholarships or something.

didn't get one. are you talking about florida instittute of tech? i was considering it until i saw ther was no need-based int'l finaid. :( but merit based seems cool.

going to study engineering or something?

so izzyJ, ull be applying for a lotta merit then?

dont see antioch on the list for need based. cornell college is also way at the bottom. for drake, in 2004, outta 28 K total, it gave average as only 9K. dont see kent state on the liust for intl need based aid either.

re-check your list, but then its okay if you banking on a lot of merit aid. Although, it may be safer to have more colleges giving need based aid on ur list, rather than merit. But then, again, depends on your stats.

what are ur stats?
f
inding a good biochem coll with lotsa need based aid shouldnt be a problem if you a good student.

yes

[10 chars]

and what kinda merit does JHU have?

I looked at Antioch's site. They give int'l kids scholarships up to 18,000. Knox, wait...I did the whole college chat with them before my operation. Let me try to remember...Argh, they give some aid, but I think it's merti. As for Cornell, I know it's not exactly need-based, but a pal is going there this year and he got some money. Kent gives out a LOT of merit scholarships so I'm hoping to snag one. It has a special scholarship also for int'l kids so here's hoping crossing fingers It's a little big for me, but it's got biotech, which was my first choice over biochem. As for Drake, it's, I think, merit-based. I have their brochure somewhere on my bed.

My stats are floating around. Usually in threads started by me. :) Lemme either copy and paste or find a link...

Taking Math IIC or IC again and Literature on October 8th. Unsure whether worth it is worth taking the SAT I again since I think my Writing could be offset by my TOEFL and transcript (A/A- in IB English A1 HL) and actual IB Score - a 5.

GPA: 3.6 UW, 4.0 W
Rank: N/A (We only have 30 seniors)

IB Results from May: English A1 HL-5, Biology HL-5, Chemistry HL-5
Final transcript grades: English: A, Biology: A-, Chemistry: C+

IB Predicted: IB History European HL - 6, Math Methods - 6/7, IB Spanish Ab Initio - 4/5

Thing is, parents' income is about 16,000/year and we have one daughter still in college, too. So, hoping to get a Malaysian gov't scholarship (it ALL dependson IB grades) and some school help.

Aaron56: chars...what is that? you've used it before but I don't think I got a translation out of it.

JHU aid? lookin' at site C'mon, gimmme int'l aid...

We offer need and merit based financial assistance to international applicants. Both types of assistance are limited. If you are dependent on receiving assistance to attend Hopkins, you should not apply under the Early Decision option, as merit awards are not made until March.
Johns Hopkins has renewable scholarships and need-based financial aid available for enrolling freshmen who are not citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Scholarships and need-based aid are renewable contigent upon the student maintaining a 3.0 GPA from year to year. Due to limited funds, both types of assistance are awarded on a competitive basis.

<a href="http://apply.jhu.edu/faqs/international.html#faq%5B/url%5D">http://apply.jhu.edu/faqs/international.html#faq</a> It doesn't give average sizes of aid, so I'm cluelesss.
<a href="http://apply.jhu.edu/finaid/scholarships.html%5B/url%5D">http://apply.jhu.edu/finaid/scholarships.html</a> Scholarships, unsure if open to int'l kids.

IzzyJ: nice stats u got there...

and chars = "characters"
i was just followin the annoying 10 characters rule! :)

hmmm. thought we had gone past the formality of IzzyJ to just plain Izzy. :) thanks, aaron. how exams doing?

oh, yeah, that annoying rule! I guess they don't want people leaving replies saying "dunno" and expand it to "I do not know at all." Snicker

hehe... i just copy-pasted ur nick.... :D

exams goin ok. i'll be fine with maths i'm sure. it's just the sci subjects i'm worried abt!
