I really really like playing pool... however, my school doesn't have a club solely dedicated to the art of billiards. How would I go about starting one next year? Would you guys be interested in joining a pool club? Would having free food and cool t-shirts help the cause? How many members does a club need to "survive"?
And last but not least, what if no one in the club has a pool table at home? Would starting a fundraiser to buy a table count as a good deed?

note: I'm also open to starting a ping pong club instead... I would have half the tennis team and a ping pong table on my side.

I think a pool club is a GREAT idea. If you can find somebody to donate a table or two [sounds unlikely from your post though], that would be GREAT.

I was part of creating a ping pong club at my school last year. We ended up with like 60 people wanting to be in it, we had free food at almost all the meetings [every wed. after school], and got some awesome T-shirts designed and sold them for like 10 bucks to get some money to keep the club going. We had a teacher sponsor us and she let us use her room to keep the food, paddles, balls, nets, folded up ping pong tables, etc in. After school for the meeting, we'd take the tables outside and unfold them and play in the hall. [BTW we had 3 tables, all donated from some people or something lol].

At my school, we had to fill out some paperwork or something with our.. "mission statement" or something silly, but it wasn't much.
If you can get like 10+ people together who say that they'll commit to your club and a teacher to "sponsor" it/back you up, your club should be a go :]

from what you added at the end, ping pong sounds like a better plan, and from what I've seen at my school, it might be more popular too.
