Just because I form a negative opinion about someone based on what I read doesn’t mean it’s a bad experience to read. It’s pointless to mention “who is forcing who to read”. It’s like reading news about someone’s wrongdoing. You don’t have to like/agree with the behavior to read the entire article.

I’m not going to defend Hookem when he clearly is in the wrong in this instance. But to the casual reader many of Hookem’s statements are anecdotal with no way of proving them right or wrong. I’m not going to make a blanket statement that he’s making up stuff because he lied in that instance.

Also, from his original post, even though it sounds like he is stating that the situation applied to him personally, the context in the subsequent sentence suggest that he is stating that he personally knows of others whose situation support his assertion. But then again I’m not going to put words in his mouth and do agree that he was not entirely truthful in his posts.

As for being repulsive, I think you misunderstand my point. My post dealt with why I think the posts on here tend to view IG negatively compared to Hookem. I’m saying that it’s not that we find one more repulsive than the other based on some absolute standard, it’s the context of who the poster is and his history and purpose behind the posts. Just because Hookem is more “repulsive” in your opinion doesn’t mean that everyone else agrees with that subjective label or ranking. Since your post clearly questions why no one is taking action with regard to Hookem, I’m merely offering up a suggestion that instead of you blaming everyone else, you can simply ignore those that you do not want to see. It’ll save some effort compared to making pointless posts blaming this and that.

If interestingguy represents the type of person that goes to Harvard, Yale, or any of the schools the beat out Duke on cross-admits and hookem represents a Dukie, I choose Duke. It’s ******bag vs person who’s trying to say how much he loves his school and how happy it makes him.

HAHAHAHAHAHA…GQ? Really had to dig deep to find that one huh?

This coming from a magazine that has been described by a writer as “filled…with images of narcissistic young men sporting fashionable clothes and accessories”

Actually the fact that you quote from such a source says enough…

Right because that’s totally not something you pulled out of you ass…[/sarcasm]

Talk about an ironic perversion of the phrase “to be fair.”

I know that it’s fun to bash Duke and all, but at this point, bringing out that kind of crap to “substantiate” your claims just makes you look petty and a complete douch3. So why don’t we be a bit more reasonable and mature and return to a logical discussion of Duke and student life there in line with the original topic.

Well, actually, my source is the Duke Chronicle. Your school newspaper apparently found the GQ article to be a newsworthy item. Must’ve been a slow news day…

Just do a search on some of boards here…lots of people consider Duke to be “******y”. Doesn’t mean that they are right or wrong, but that’s just a common perception shared by some non-Dukies.

Holy effing hell. Can we go back to the last page for a second? ahahahahaha this is awesome. Read the posts trashing me for “lying.”
Then, go back to the first page and read my ENTIRE post in its ORIGINAL context. I never claimed to get into HYP. Ever. IG chopped my post in half to make it seem like I did. That’s pretty effing low (but, of course, we all know he’s an absolute snake whom no one likes anyway). By “my case,” I am clearly and specifically referring to MY ANECDOTES, MY TWO FRIENDS whom I clearly and specifically mention in the post. Ridiculous. You Duke-haters make me sick.

this has become the most useless thread i’ve ever seen as it’s now a ******bag battle versus another duke student rather than something useful on the topic of duke itself as an institution.

interestingguy **** i’m so sick of you. if you don’t have something (TRUE) to say about duke, get out.

Cuse0507: I cringe in horror that you would think that the CC posters constitute a representative population sample.

Also you seem to use the words “many,” “common,” “some,” etc quite loosely.

IG: Unless I’m much mistaken, your post count on first page of this thread alone is higher than Hookem’s post count for this entire thread…

An interesting way to butcher Shakespeare though!

Also, the Chronicle is an independent entity from Duke, what they find newsworthy or not is completely irrelevant to Duke itself. Additionally, I can only find mention of the ranking on the blogs on the Chronicle site…hardly what I call news…

No matter what you said, as I’ve said before, the fact that you believe GQ is a relevant authority for quotation says enough.

GQ? Because when I think non-******bags that the first thing that comes to mind…

And which is more **y: to acknowledge the fact that someone calls you a and laugh at it or to ignore it like it never happened? I say answer B

I think it’s worth noting that IG is displaying some pretty sociopathic tendencies here. Jokes aside, you should take care of that, man. That stuff turns you into Ted Bundy and Patrick Bateman.
