anyone know a good way for middle school students to get scholarships??

Hi. I'm an eight grade student living in CA. I really am in need of scholarships, so does anyone know a good way to get some? I already am trying fastweb, but their scholarships are mostly for high school or undergrad/graduate school students. I'm not afraid to write many essays, am looking forward to majoring in law when I get to college, and I also am kind of desperate. I'm looking forward to doing this without my parents' help, for they, well, can't really anyways. So if you know a good and safe way to get a scholarship (I'm trying to get one so that I could go to a private high school) for a middle school student, please post on. Thanks.

p.s.: i'm really, really sorry to college confidental about my last message asking for supporters. I saw a post like that somewhere around this site, and thought it was okay to do so. Sorry!

One way is to contact private high schools and ask them about their scholarships. Many do give scholarships to outstanding students who have financial need.

If your household income is less than <80,000 then this will be a life changing experinece for you. But you must be very capable. Some of these students are as good as Rhodes scholar but just 10 years earlier. Good luck.

I second the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation suggestion; it's an excellent program.

Programs in many states, frequently scholarships are awarded. Many winners.

Essay contests are probably your best bet, if you're talking about aid for college. I can think of two off the top of my head... one is from the Ayn Rand Foundation (or something along those lines) for middle school students. They also have competitions for highschoolers, but the books are different... I think the middle school contests is an essay on Anthem. It's listed on Fastweb, I'm pretty sure. You should also look into the A&E Biography of the Year Essay Contest. Again, they have divisions for every age group, and it won't take too much time. In addition to essay contests, you should look into things like poetry or PTA-sponsored contests.

I know this wasn't a whole lot of info, but hopefully it will provide a starting point.

hmmm thanks, everyone, for your informations! and no, i am not looking for a college aid...more of a highschool aid....Thanks anyway, though. you all gave me lots of courage!!! =]
