Can anyone please comment on the engineering science and mechanics program at Penn State? This is a honors program and I understand that if you took the Integrated Undergra program you can get masters in 5 years. Does anyone know about this program?

according to the engineering undergrad program guide, ESC at Penn State is "a multi-disciplinary honors program" designed "for students who seek to link engineering disciplines with sciences... In addition to taking core courses in mathematics, physics, chemistry and biology, students study thermodynamics, heat transfer, electromagnetics, solid & fluid mechanics, electrical devices, material sciences, and failure analysis." As with all hoors programs at Penn State, students write a thesis during their senior year; as for the masters, the guide says that "qualified students are nominated for the Schreyer Honors College, and may participate in cooperative education, study abroad, and an integrated undergraduate-graduate program... typically, about half of the E SC graduates continue their studies in graduate programs throughout the country".

I think you could get some more in-depth info by calling the engineering advising department, which is staffed by professors. Ask specifically for an E SC prof if you can. :)
