I just purchased an acer laptop for a hardly unbeatable price. i'm not too familiar with the reputation the brand has. so, has anyone had any good or bad experiences with Acer in the past... anything i should be aware of?

thanks...

I am looking into getting a laptop and this site has been helpful

thanks to both. i had already known about notebookreviews.com, which actually helped me to decide to get the laptop in the first place, but i was more interested in how acers hold up in the long run. thanks, though!

Yes. They're absolutely terrible. I own a two-year-old model, and since last year, productivity of this computer decreased drastically, and it lacks any kind of quality control. Acers DON'T hold up in the long run if you don't put it on an altar and worship it. Do yourself a favor and don't get an acer. With normal high school/college student use, realistically, I would put the lifespan of this computer at a year and a half to two and a half years.
