I'm in high school and really want to go to University of Dallas. (no, not university of Texas at dallas). I seem troubled about their dorm situation. Their website is not very clear at all. Sooooo what can any former/current students say about dorm life there and overall... What to do for fun?

I hope you get some responses from students. If not, try contacting the admissions office and ask them if you could talk/email some students on campus. I went with my son on a campus visit. I canât say that there was anything that indicated that there would be less going on in terms of on campus activities than any other campus. The impression I got was that they working hard on making their own traditions since they are a relatively new school. The common curriculum of the Great Books program seemed provide closer relationships. The students we talked to seem pretty content and were very happy with easy access to Dallas activitiesâapparently there was/soon to be a nearby train stop. The dorms were definitely on the larger size. From the direction we came in, the campus seemed a little isolated but I think they told us that the off-campus activity was pretty much in the other direction.

Hey electric12390! Iâm currently a senior at UD and lived on campus so hopefully I can answer your question.
First of all, Iâm so excited that youâre interested in UD! Itâs a great school and I love it here!
Regarding dorm life:
Since every freshman (and anyone under 21/not a senior) has to live on campus, the dorms are a really fun place to live. You get to know the people that are in your dorm really well and develop a sense of community. There are 6 âfreshmanâ dorms on campus, and they vary in size from about 30-100 students, plus one (much larger) dorm for upperclassmen. The freshman dorms are pretty standard: theyâre double rooms, have community bathrooms, a common room, and a kitchen. The dorms are so much fun, though⊠there are always events going on (movie nights, tea parties in the girlsâ dorms, talks from students and professors, game nights, etc) and pretty much all the time people are just hanging out in the common room together. I definitely miss living there now that I live off-campus!
The upperclassman dorm is new, and itâs REALLY nice. The rooms each have private bathrooms, and it has tons of study rooms, a TV room, and a huge common area.
Even though UD is a small school, there is always something going on. We really love our live music, and have several really big live music events each year where UD student bands (and other people) play. My favorite is Groundhog, where we take a hay ride out into the woods and there are bands playing all night, plus free food/sâmores/soda/beer (if youâre over 21!).
Every Thursday night, we have TGIT (âThank Goodness itâs Thursdayâ) where there is typically a theme and either a live band or a DJ. Itâs a great way to hang out with friends and start the weekend early!
Thereâs also tons of other stuff going on all the time: Dallas Year is a great way to get off campus for really cheap ($5 Cowboys game, anyone?), Campus Ministry holds free food events two nights a week, and thereâs always some intramural tournament happening.
And yes, now that we have the DART station right next to campus, itâs super easy to get into Dallas. They sell really cheap DART passes on campus, so you can ride an unlimited number of times per semester.

So anyway, UD is tons of fun and obviously I think itâs a really great place to go to school! If you have any more questions, Iâd love to answer them! If you want, PM me and I can send you a link to hopefully some more helpful info on the website about the dorms.
