Here is a LAC which looks OK on paper: 1600 students or so, great merit scholarships, and nice campus. And U.S. News (2005) ranked it third among Liberal Arts Colleges, and sixth in the country for graduation rate performance. Tuition and room and board come to about $28K. It has EA and seems to be easy to get admitted (thus opportunity for scholarships).

Does anyone here have any other insight (beyond the fact sheet) on Westminster? Anyone visited? Carolyn?

Westminster college in PA. was ranked near the bottom of the third tier of lac in US News, not # two. Beyond that I have no other info. Dana's dad

No current info. Way back when (70s), Westminster was considered a solid choice for many of my PA classmates -- was too expensive for me to even consider. A college friend of mine, now a doctor, did his undergrad there. Another friend was a music major. I only ever heard good things, and people in PA seemed to have a fair amount of respect for it. Often attracted the same kids who applied to Clarion, Slippery Rock, Grove City.

I'm a 1982 Westminster graduate and loved my time there. I was a psychology major and had no difficulty getting into grad school. The frat scene was the main focus of social life, but alot of the parties were open to all students so it wasn't critical to join. I went to a small rural HS so the size and location of the school weren't deterrents to me. Alot of Pittsburgh area students. I had a number of friends who went on to do some pretty impressive things (director of public relations for the Dalls Cowboys, radio play-by-play man for the LSU Tigers, actor / model, doctors, president of the world Little League, to name a few)!
