Does anyone know the average GPA for a Chinese Major at UCLA?

funnyman,

It's above average, last time I asked. It's not the hardest major at UCLA, but it has lots and lots of busywork.

Do you speak Mandarin at all?

somewhat, my mandarian is understandable to others, but it's pretty basic.

Just take Chinese 1 then, and you'll do just fine.

Thanks, is the average GPA then like a 3.5 for Chinese?

Beats me. Probably something like that. I just remember it being "above average." So probably 3.5 or so.

I'm chinese and I absolutely hate learning chinese. There's no "sounding out" of words. no "spelling out" of words. strict memorization...and theres something like 4000+ characters in the language.

I'll stick to good ol' Latin based languages, thank you very much.

but hey, if you really want to, go for it! :D

Is there a chinese major? I think there's asian studies, and thats all, right?

Yes, there is a Chinese major. It's located within the department of Asian languages. There is also a Chinese minor.
