;)

psh no one cares what the graduate students do :p

yea, those are the grad student elections, nothing really to do with usac elections

usac = undergraduate students association council

I thought results were supposed to be up at 9:30

... what gives?

"There are runoff elections for President (Jenny was up a little) and EVP (Jesse was up here). Bruins United pretty much took the rest- Doan, Vardner, the three Gen Reps, Smeets, etc. Both referenda passed as well and all the unopposed commissioners got elected (yay!).

Full results will probably be in the paper tomorrow."

Copied and pasted from MyUCLA forums (J-sin)
I'm glad both the referenda passed :D

Yea, I just found out through my friend. Bruins United won everything besides president/EVP for which there will be runoffs.

My friend apparently went to the election announcements on campus. He described it as "hundreds of people, all screaming and cheering, bagpipes blaring, drums banging," and "incredible," heh.

He was a Bruins United supporter of course.

rock on Bruins United!

I voted for Bruins United.

It's official:
http://www.dailybruin.ucla.edu/news/articles.asp?id=33203

And I care because...???

cuz you're coming to this school? =P

So? How will whoever is on that council affect me? Really? I'm not trying to be a butt, I just really wanna know. Because I don't think it really matters.

I'm interested in this myself. What exactly are some significant accomplishments of the USAC over the past few years? How much of what the USAC advocates actually happens? It seems like it would be a good thing to be involved with if it's really an effective organization, but try as I may I can't seem to find any hard information about how it works and what it does, not even on it's website.

USAC closed down Taco Bell at Campus Corner (replacing it with Athena's and Shorty's) this year due to an issue brought up by the Coalition of Immokalee Workers about the fast-food chain using slave-wage tomatoes. http://www.ciw-online.org/

slave-wage tomatoes?

^ that was one of the worst ideas they've had in a while

sounds so much like ASUC. rearranging letters eh

well, since this thread has been bumped up... its time for the run-off election! :)

cough Go Bruins United cough
