Anyone manage to get football tickets tonight?

Sons friend did not have tx as a freshman. he was able to buy individual tx. for all games but on a weekly basis. The other team also gets a certain amount of alloted tx. They give these back to the stadium on the wed or thurs before the game and you can go to the stadium and buy them. There will be tx. to buy. It will just take a bit of perseverence. Sorry for all those who did not get tx. Next yr. they are talking about having tx. attached to student ID so no more scalping. It should be easier to buy tx. then. SOn says home schedule is not that great so that it should be easier to get tx this fall than usual.

Thanks Sax, that's what my son said about the schedule this year too, its not that good for home games. but I will let him know your recommendation.

I can feel everyone's pain who did not get tickets. Last year my son was a freshman and we were at Penn State for freshman testing during the sale. My husband borrowed a friends laptop and stayed back at the hotel with ticketmaster. He was so frustrated when he couldn't get tickets. This year my son was lucky and got tickets right away. We spent all last summer trying to buy him tickets and feeling bad.In August after watching e-bay for months broke down and bought him tickets for $500.00 over the sale price. At the beginning of the summer they were going for 1,300.00 over the price. We were glad we did. But it leaves a bad taste in your mouth the whole process and the students only buying tickets to make money. My son went to every game and was proud to be "We are Penn State". I spoke to Myford (in charge of sales)at Penn State over the process. This year was alittle better because by making it two processes only serious buyers registered and not everyone was purchasing tickets all on one day and at the same time. They also helped the freshmen out not selling during testing and at night. I to feel University students should be the first to buy tickets they are the one's on campus.Next year on the ID card should be much better!!!For those who didn't get tickets your luck should be better, there is not the high demand of Notre Dame or Ohio State.Adults last year were buying the student tickets for big money. You can also buy adult tickets on-line. Best of Luck I know how much it means.

I got season tickets and I will be a freshman this fall. One of my friends--also a freshman--got tickets as well.

Sorry to all who could not get them.

Yup, we were on vacation this past week and took time out to log in to try and get tickets for my S. He's an entering freshman at University Park this fall. Well, we were shut out, too. Oh well, we will try other options later on. We've been successful in the past getting regular tickets this way. Just UMich and Mich State (JoePa's last home game???) will be tough.

Thanks for the advice about waiting a little while. Yes, we saw E-Bay and Craigslist offerings for crazy amounts for student tickets just one day after the sale. Those kids should have their tickets taken away and not allowed to buy anymore.

DS had tickets last year and ended up selling some because he had other things going on. (He sold his tickets to friends at face value.) I would also recommend waiting.

1moremom, I'm not talking about kids like your S. I understand things come up and you may not be able to go to a game or 2. Selling them at face is a very nice thing to do. What I'm talking about are these kids that are selling them on E-Bay for 3, 4, 5 times over face value. They never had any intention of going to a game, just to make a buck. Check these: penn state items on eBay.com
Something should be done to prevent this. Luckily, there are enough true Penn State fans that sell their tickets at face. I've already gotten tickets to 3 games for him and me. No, they are not in the student section, but at least he'll be there.

Yikes!
I have a B&B business in town and was able to get two Notre Dame tickets last year at face value from some of my regular guests. They said that, since we didn't scalp them on the room rate for football weekends, they wouldn't scalp us on the tickets. :) What goes around, comes around.

Collegian article says scalping issue to be addressed next year. I sure hope so . . .

"Both Grassi and PCC president Tom Boroch felt anti-scalping measures should have been addressed. Season ticket packages are fetching an average of $800 on Web sites such as eBay. 'That definitely gets under my skin,' Boroch said. 'It's completely unfair to people who really want tickets.' It's an aspect Myford also expects to address by the 2009 season."

I saw that. I think tying the tickets to student IDs (surely that's possible?) is the answer.
