Anyone manage to get football tickets tonight?

We jumped on at exactly 8 o'clock, had our info all ready and was on to the "searching for tickets" page within 25 seconds. Yet somehow the tickets were already gone. If everyone else managed to get through even faster than that, I would love to know their secret :-)

i got tickets i have no idea how, i just went on at 8:00 and prayed

I reviewed all the steps prior to signing on to ticket master, then clicked football tickets and flew through the rest of the steps. Sorry to hear you didn't get tickets. Does anyone know how fast they sold out?

This stinks, my son tried for the freshmen tickets, exactally at 8pm and he did not get them, and he did everthing right. how many tickets did they have for sale for freshmen? is there anyway a ticket broker could have bought them. this does not seem fair.

You mean 8am right?

Nope, the sale started at 8 p.m. tonight.

We had practiced all of the steps, and even had our credit card info stored in the system beforehand - but we never even got to that step. We were on the "searching for tickets" page waiting for a few minutes, and then got the message that they sold out.

My son is a sophomore so he bought his tickets yesterday. The first time he tried, it said no tickets available. He tried again and again it said no tickets available. He tried a third time and he got the tickets. The tickets for the sophomores were gone within 90 seconds. I'm not sure what happened but if he hadn't kept trying, he wouldn't have gotten the tickets. I wonder how many people quit after the first try when it said no tickets available. If they had kept trying, they might have gotten them.

true, my son tried about 10 times, both for general seating and best available. The first time he got the message waiting 4 minutes, etc. Personally I've always hated Ticketmaster. We went to PSU on 6/11 to schedule his classes and talked to the ticket office, they said last year ticket sales got really messed up so going this way they felt was best. Its just unfortunate, but that's life. Now he says he'll join the band so he can go, LOL.

Personally I think UP students should be given first shot and then the satellite campuses can buy tickets if there are any left. I bet a lot of the tickets sold to students at the satellite campuses are scalped.

I just talked to the ticket office. There were 4,500 freshmen tickets available which is 22% of the student population. They told me they did sell in less than one minute. Unbelievable.

Haha wow thats truely unbelievable, I can't wait to see an article about the time being sold out.

Simple solution would be to split the student ticket base into two packages of three to four games each. Students would only be able to get one package. Any left over packages would then be available for sale after the initial sale. Come on PSU, use common sense why alienate future alums.

That would somewhat work but then there is always problems with the rival games and who got the better package. Anyway, I think they should just double the size of the student section, we have 107,000 seats, student should be guaranteed seats. Or at least students who attend University Park should get first dibs.

good idea starone100. yea it just seems crazy. but now you have to wonder, if sports tickets are this hard, how will the competition for work world be??? and we know how many applications PSU got for school! I've been at my same company for 25 years and I know have been very lucky, but what about the new workforce??

The whole ticket situation is unfair. Last year my daughter was a junior, she was unable to get tickets. So I had to buy them on ebay. This past semester she studied abroad the spring semester. Even though she is now a senior, her study abroad credits don't transfer until the end of the summer. So all the juniors who studied abroad, didn't have enough credits to register for senior tickets, so they had to register for junior tickets. She was able to get junior tickets a few days ago, even though they sold out in 90 seconds. I think the whole situation is crazy. Can you imagine going to college as a freshman at Penn State and not being able to get tickets?

Yes, it's crazy. I know they're working on improving the process next year.
A BIG problem is kids who buy them just to scalp and make a profit. Awful. Linking to student ID should take care of this problem.
Plus they really should give the students more seats...lots more.

this moring tried on ebay for him but my limit was $300 . I was out bid within an hour. I can't justify paying more considering all other costs. I guess unless a large group of students protest they won't change the ticket process. Well on to more important things like enjoying the rest of the summer with him before he's off to State College.

Don't try yet to get him tickets on ebay. From my experience last year the tickets will go for about $1000 for the set now. Because everyone is crazy to get tickets now as they couldn't get them on ticketmaster. But as it gets closer to September you'll be able to get them cheaply on ebay. Last year in September people had student tickets on sale for $30 a game. And your child will probably meet people at college who have a extra ticket to sell.
I know what you are going through. Basically last summer, my summer was spent checking prices of football tickets on ebay for my daughter.

One of my professors (taught me last Fall and Spring) usually has a couple of tickets for each game and sells them to students at their face value. She takes the total cost of the season tickets and divides by the total number of games and that's the price of each ticket even for the good games like Ohio State. So if you're in her class, you can still get them from her.

Lowermorlandmom, yes what we will do for our kids :) . that is good advice. thank you. he'll have to fight his own battles in a few months so if he really wants to go I'm sure he can find out how to get tickets. Also its good to hear they are trying to improve the process.
