So just today I was thinking back on everything I did to get ready to apply for NU. One of those things was interviewing w/ an alumni. I was just wondering did most of you interview, and did any of you not get in even though you did interview?

P.S. I got accepted and I had a pretty bland interview.

i did have an interview, but a good friend of mine did not.

we both got in.

northwestern doesn't place that much weight on the interview; short of acting like a sociopath, i somewhat doubt an interview could really hurt. the only thing is does is potentially reenforces your personality as conveyed by your application.

I thought I had a terrible interview. It was my first interview too. I felt at a loss for words a lot of times, and there were many moments of silence. But I still got in :)

I interviewed. They had everybody from the SF bay area go to teh same downtown office building on a weekend to interview with a big group of NU alums. the girl that interviewed me was really nice, and seemed impressed with me. I would say that it went well, altough it was my first and only interview ive ever done. Im guessing that it helped a lot.

you got cookies? damn, all they had in SF was a stack of newspapers (it was odd, there were 40 people in a room together who were all nervous and didn't know each other, so they were all reading newspapers, pretending to be new yorkers on a subway train or something, made the whole situation really awkward.)
Oh, and it was also very intimidating. It was on the top floor of a 17 story law office, the whole place looked filthy rich.

TheCity, are you from SF itself? I am, and I also interviewed there. Didn't they have water or coffee or something? I know that's not exactly the same as cookies, though :)

Anyway, to reply to the original post, my alum was really nice and I thought the interview went well, and I got accepted. My good friend interviewed and she didn't get in. C'est la vie.

yes, i live in the city... the place i interviewed was downtown, on Howard and Folsom i think, around there. I didnt see any coffee, and water doesnt count. Then again, my interview was at 2 in the afternoon, thats kinda late for coffee.

the cookies were of the m & m variety. yum. lol.

i thought the place was pretty intimidating too; it was in the tallest building in the city (which really doesn't say much), in a ritzy law office. the attorney's office that i had my actual interview in was the size of a classroom or so and was air-conditioned to negative 10 degrees. but my interviewer told me about his drinking days at northwestern, so i guess the interview itself must have gone alright.

TheCity, yeah, it was the same office. I was there at 10 in the morning, though, which is more coffee time. The whole floor was a little intimidating, but I luckily got put in a pretty small room for my interview with just a table and a few chairs.
