Anyone NOT into partying?

I'm not a total downer, but I feel like i'm going to be in a lot of trouble finding people who don't want party 24/7 at Penn State...I mean, I like to get loose once in a while but i like to take it easy for the most part. Anyone else not really into the party scene? Maybe everyone just exaggerates the whole party scene at Penn State...

The party scene is definitely there, but that doesn’t mean everyone is involved. There are tons of activities and events and things going on at PSU - so you should easily find something to do that doesn’t involve partying.

I will be going into PSU as a Junior because I am a transfer student, and I was a little concerned about this too. I have done a lot of reading, and PSU is extremely diverse. There will be a lot of people partying, but there will also be quite a few who do dot take part in this. I do not plan on getting involved much anyway, maybe an honors society and a service club if anything. I am a non-traditional student and a mother, so I will already feel out of place I am sure.

I’m not, I think the whole party thing ridiculous, not to mention really dumb.

I think it’s a select group of not so serious students that put so much emphasis on the “partying”, and with such a large student body, that percentage is a little higher than many of the smaller schools therefore making it appear like a lot of people are within that group, when really it’s just one small chunk of the total student population.

It’s awful what some of the students have done, I’ve lived near one of the campuses and years ago and some of the students littered the streets, broke things, destroyed property, it’s awful! Thankfully it’s getting a lot stricter and hopefully these students will be expelled from the university or punished in some way shape or form - while it’s okay to have fun, they are being destructive and totally disrespecting their school and the surrounding area!

But yeah, saying that it’s a “party school” is like saying everyone at Harvard is a snob, both of these statements are clearly false and stereotypical, you have to look past them and see the school and it’s student body for yourself.
