I am planning on sending my daughter to India for MBBS also in 2016. My preference is the NRI college in AP, since we hail from that place, and she can go to the college pretty much from her Grandma’s place. My other option is Manipal. If you are interested in connecting, I would like to touch base with you and discuss further.
@jogger1967 If you send your daughter to india for any kind of medical degree, chances are tham most likely she will never find a job as a doctor in the United States. Lots of people in india just pay their way through a degree and don’t study, and almost all of the major hospitals and medical centers, and graduate/medical schools in the United States know this too. They even made a hollywood movie making fun of this, but the movies name slips my mind at the moment. So I would highly recommend to not do that.

The biggest huge plus is the fees.
Not only is the program 5.5 years (as opposed to 8), you do not pay if your student can get into a “govt college” i.e. a college funded by any state or union territory or central government.
If your student is able to get into such a college, then all things in your list fall in line.
If one is looking at alternative medicine (e.g. homeopathy, ayurvedic) then also consider the option (but going back to US for practice is probably going to be tough).
Private college – no idea.
