This forum looks like it's basically dead, but just in case someone stumbles across it...

I'm a current student at Wheaton, and I'd be happy to answer any questions to the best of my ability. You can post them here or PM me, if you'd prefer.

Do you think miss anything attending a Christian school? Do you find anything disturbing about the theology of the students/professors? Do you know what graduate schools Wheaton graduates typically attend?

MImama: My favorite part about Wheaton, hands down, is my fellow students. They are diverse, intelligent, articulate, funny, creative, and, best of all, most of them are intent on finding and fulfilling God’s will for their lives. There are other aspects I like too, of course, but if I had to pick one, that would be it.

As far as negatives go, the biggest thing I can think of is the weather. I come from the Northeast, so I’m no stranger to winter, but the combination of the Chicago wind and the necessity of walking everywhere made me wonder more than once why I hadn’t been sensible enough to go to school in southern California!

kittycat101: One of the things I appreciate most about Wheaton is that it absolutely does not sacrifice academic integrity or rigor in the name of religion. I would not be attending if that were the case. It would have been an absolute deal breaker for me.

I haven’t found anything disturbing about the theology of any professors. While they certainly differ on some issues, all of the professors I have spoken with or heard about from others base their beliefs firmly in the Bible. Students are encouraged to think critically about why they believe what they believe, which can cause periods of uncertainty. However, there is no better place to go through this solidifying process than at Wheaton, surrounded by students and professors who will pray with you, talk with you, and who desire God’s best for you.

Wheaton graduates attend all kinds of grad schools, depending on individual ability and interests. I know of several alumni who have attended top-tier graduate/law/business schools. Some others continue at Wheaton’s grad school. I’m not sure what schools are “typical” for graduates to attend.
