Okay, maybe I'm not on here enough anymore, but I have no idea what you all are talking about. The only thing I've noticed is that posts aren't twenty to a page anymore.

So, call me clueless (not the first time :)), but what did I miss?

You aren't clueless. The glitch seems to have affected very few of us. We were zapped into an alternate CC forum (it had a different name and look, but it was definitely CC). Because the alternate forum listed all the logged in users and counted guests, I would guess that about 300 people were affected. Ninety or so of us were logged in; the rest were lurkers.

Unfortunately, I remember a few people posting "emergency" threads that asked for quick feedback. Those threads disappeared when we were returned to the real forum.

If it didn't affect your section of users, or if you didn't try to access the site between 3 pm and 5 pm, then you wouldn't have noticed a thing.

Garland, here's a brief description that I posted on the Bucknell forum:

Yeah. CC did an upgrade this afternoon that sent a bunch of us into limbo. All posts after 1/27/06 were gone. Many of us had to create new accounts since the new site wouldn't recognize us. (I even had to change my name - and that was a GOOD thing.)

The new format had some cool stuff such as point-and-go icons, an easy formatting menu, and little lights next to people's names to see whether they were online or not. It wasn't easy to navigate, however, especially after getting used to this format.

Several of us posted on the "What happened?" threads, but I thought it was weird that there were only 20 or so of us posting. Some people created new decision threads for colleges since all the messages were gone. Occasionally, someone would wander through saying that he/she kept going back and forth from one forum to another. And then . . . poof! I was back here. Kinda like a nightmare. :-) I still wonder how many people are still trapped in the alternate forum - and whether it will return.

Wow, spooky--the CC version of a Star Trek episode!
