Just curious: was anyone here trapped in the alternate CC universe? I found myself caught in the upgrade/downgrade forum this afternoon. (I had to re-register and change my name, which was a GOOD thing until I came back here and had to use my old.) I discovered that tons of people had been posting here in our absence.

Right now . . . it seems like it was a dream.

Yes, I kept floating in and out of the alternate universe as I clicked from link to link. I did some posts in the 1-26 forum, and some posts in this forum.

I didn't see a thread. In one click, I found myself back here, my new name gone, and TONS of posts that I had missed. No one seemed to be aware of the alternate site.

My son got his first "non-acceptance" this afternoon....a waitlist at Swat. I could feel the earth shift under our house, but I didn't expect the entire website to be affected. :o

Whatever they say, I'm quite sure that this whole thing came about because of the "bad" karma of too many rejection and waitlist decisions in a short space of time for too many disappointed applicants!

Has anyone heard why the "alternate universe" happened today? Was it some kind of "test run" that failed? Is there some other thread that offers some info?

also.... since the bizarre incident, I am no longer getting email notifications of postings. I checked my settings and they still indicate that I want email notifications. Anyone else having this problem?

The only problem I've encountered is that the new account I registered for is no longer operational. If I click on the email notifications I received during that time, I get an error page.

Did you have to create a new account yesterday? If you used the same name, perhaps the system is having problems dealing with "two" of you. Did you check to make sure the correct email address is on your functional account?

Son is in at U Chicago (plus some other schools), but somehow "non-acceptances" are never nice. Mostly he is worried if this is an "omen" for his Brown application. The notice on that should come through today.
