D received her NLI today.
Congrats! As a coach, one of my kids is signing on Monday. Fun times! Enjoy the ride!
Congrats! It’s been an exciting fall finalizing the choice. The tough part has been the calls to the coaches she is declining.
Yes. Daughter received NLI a few days ago and plans on signing first day of early period…it’s been a long road with plenty of ups and downs, so we are all looking forward to tomorrow.
Yep, my swimmer is signing tomorrow. I imagine most schools do something similar, but her high school has a ceremony and reception for the signing athletes. She’s a little peeved that the high school AD and principal, neither of whom has anything to do with her sport (swimming is all club-based here) will be in a picture with her. I’ve assured her that we’ll do that one, but then we’ll also take one with only the people she wants in her pic, e.g., her club coaches, whom she adores.
Here’s a funny question: Did any of your kids give you advice on what you should wear to signing ceremony?
Tomorrow! #:-S
It has been a long time coming but very glad the day is finally here.
Congratulations all!
@SevenDad , I always see pics of the signers in college gear. But I never really thought about it. …
@gardenstategal: Oh my daughter is going to wear college gear for sure…it’s her parents that I was talking about!
I have had no feedback from my D but I am planning on going to work afterwards so I will be wearing my normal work outfit. Maybe a college cap but that will be subject to D’s approval.
@SevenDad , we know you’re totally stylin’, so looking forward to those pics!
It’s too bad for athletes with LL, since there is no official signing day ceremony for them, only the satisfaction of being accepted. [-(
@noanswers: I’ve definitely seen Ivy commits participate in Feb. signing ceremonies.
I think that more common for sports such as football, baseball, etc, less so for the niche sports, and depending on the high school as well. Unfortunately my kid’s high school doesn’t make a big deal when it comes to athletic recruits.
Tomorrow! Finally! My D attends a small school, she will be the only one signing. Then we will do another one in the evening at gym with the two other girls signing NLIs. She’s more excited about that one than the one at school. After all this time, I’m over the moon about both!
@SevenDad: My husband and I are totally wearing the gear. D has no vote. LOL
Yes tomorrow finally for us too and my D3-commit athlete. She gets to “sign” along with our school’s D1 commits. We are going all out! We are wearing our college t-shirts. I will have a table set up with her college banner and pennant that I bought, a vase of flowers and frosted cookies in the college colors, and I am surprising her with a special commitment poster I had someone on Etsy design and print for us. Some of her friends and teachers and hopefully her varsity coach may be stopping by to see her because it’s during a free period. Congratulations to all of your athletes!
Darn right! Go be a proud mama!
Congrats all. It really is a special day and requires cupcakes.
@twoinanddone Or a super large full sheet cake with her name and school logo on it? LOL
Our bakery makes cupcakes to look like a large sheet cake and the cupcakes are so much easier to give out. You just mush all the cupcakes together and frost the tops so it looks like a cake or an alligator or panther or football field. Ours looked like a cake. Sadly, school colors were crimson and gray, so no added excitement there.
