after registering, it says i need to find a sponsor... does that mean i was rejected? lol

Whoa, I'm on my third step where it's asking me to create a SUNnet ID, is that right?

none of this means anything. it says after you register regardless of whether or not ur university eligible, itll take a while for you to be activated. so i dont think it means youre in or out

Never mind, likely a rejection, "pending sponsorship."

Pending sponsorship doesn't mean rejection, unless someone's gotten something else.

You wouldn't get "sponsored" or be activated until you accepted the offer of admission anyway -and even admitted students don't have to decide until later.

Actually, I've already taken several 30 minute breaks away from the computer^__^~

ok we haven't heard on anyone getting decisions in over an hour...
I think something must have gone wrong

I'd say you are admitted if you can successfully follow the instructions at https://admit.stanford.edu/login/ and get into the admitted students portal =p.

I don't even know if they got my stuff since they messed up with my name and don't even know which documents are mine.

I think i'll just check tomorrow

I'm too nervous to have a try~

still.... nothing...
and my friends already got the email. what is up?

^That uses your SUNet ID. If your SUNet ID hasn't been authorized, you can't login.

guys, stop worrying!! during the Restricted Early Action decisions many "acceptees" came late (well, I know of at least one!). We'll get the email tonight! (I hope!) =) And if it's good or bad, either way, we'll have to accept their decisions, though I hope it turns out good for all of us! I feel like we all have a common bond...and I love you!!

p.s. I was deferred early also!

"I, Ern Sheong Lin, choose to be identified permanently at Stanford by this SUNet ID:"

huh? what does this mean?

All of this is speculation, but deduced from combing through this thread and http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/stanford-university/480792-after-3pm-22.html.

Stanford's notification emails, according to reports in the forums, look they started to go out at about 3:55 pm Pacific time. The LAST confirmation of the receipt of such an email came at 4:20 pm. That means that the email engine ran for only about 25 minutes and then must have crashed. We don't know how many records (out of the 25,000 to process) it could have run through in just 25 minutes, but I would seriously doubt that it's even half.

As to when they'll notice the crash and fix it, I can't say. I just know that there are a lot of frustrated Stanford applicants and families out there right now.

I also seriously doubt that the records were processed in any discernible order (geography, category, etc.). Records of all three types (rejections, acceptances, and waitlists) certainly did go out. Otherwise, I don't see a pattern in the data, but admittedly, I haven't had the time to do a rigorous analysis either.

i saw this right after i logged in from the first page

im still waiting. im in the RD

It's 12:46 AM here in Boston, and I have been waiting for more than 6 hours for my email... AUGH!

do you think there are some technical difficulties?

Ernie, I got the same thing.

I have no idea, I'm just going to wait.
