I'll be a freshman at a SUNY school and will be taking a Chemical Engineering curriculum. This means I'll be taking Calculus II, Chemistry I (I'm hoping for honors since I took AP), and Physics I. This is in addition to a 3 credit Honors seminar plus a 1-credit Honors mini course. Does this sound doable? I've heard people advise against doing Chem and Physics at the same time. I also saw, though, that I am supposed to be taking Intro to ChemE (3 credits) in the first semester and at some point should be doing a Writing course. Should I maybe not take Physics I in the fall, and since I wont have any math course to take in the spring, start Physics I then?

You’re taking Calc II and intro chem is what you’re worried about? The hardest classes in the engineering curriculum tend to be the first two semesters of physics and calculus. Many non engineering majors have to take chemistry and I found it to be much easier than physics, tougher than calculus I, but a bit easier than calculus II. I think you should be fine as long as you adapt quickly to do college level studying, especially if you’re an honors student.

its doable, but will be really hard. Why are you taking honors? just seems like more work. I would say that if your chem doesnt have a lab that you have to take, then go ahead and do both if you really want, if not seriously think about how much time you’re going to have to put in your freshmen year academically and consider lightening up the load

I’m in a very similar situation as you.

I start my freshman year this fall and plan to take chem/physics/calc my first semester. I’ve been doing some reading/problem sets to lessen the load and if you’re sure about the classes you want to take, start reviewing a little now. Buy your text books now and find old syllabus for the classes online and you’ll be able to start out ahead. MIT has a bunch of chem/physics/calc lectures on youtube. They’ve been extremely interesting and helpful.

Goodluck!

did calc III, honors physics, and organic chemistry. very easily manageable. the two together are no problem. but you must look at your entire schedule for proper perspective.

Just three courses? Don’t worry about it too much. If you have an extended drop deadline, consider adding on either the Intro ChemE course or the Writing course.
