Is anyone taking (or self studying) Microeconomics and Macroeconomics simultaneously? If you are, how far along are you right now?

I’m a few pages into my PR book… my first (and probably last) self study ill ever do lol

Many people, if taking one, take the other also as there is a great deal of overlap.
I started serious studying last year in March. I got 5’s on both, Macro was very tough though.

I’m taking Micro at school and self-studying Macro.

Like HollaAtMeSon, I bought the PR prep book for Macro/Micro. I digested everything over the summer though, so I just need to brush up on review during AP season.

Personally, I think there’s no need to separate micro and macro as two different AP’s, since they go hand in hand. Knowing micro helps a lot with macro, and vise versa.

The reason i’m asking this question is that my textbook teaches both. However the first 15 chapters are on macro, while the other 15 are micro. My class only teaches macro. So the pacing will be different. And also i don’t know if i need to know some macro stuff first before studying micro.

You don’t need to know macro for micro. In fact, micro is leagues easier, there is no comparison. You’re lucky that you are learning the harder one in school, self study micro alongside it and you should ace both.

^ I’d have to disagree, but this is only to my personal extent.

I’ve found macro to be just as hard/easy as micro. They’re similar applications with different concepts. But this is probably more of a personal preference than an overall agreement.

Alright thanks. And that’s weird, many of my teachers thought that micro is what organic chem is to med studies o.o

Hmm. well, for AP-level at least, I believe macro to be incomparable to micro, again personally. Also from several others i know, though, only about 10 people got equal scores on macro and micro. The other forty got different scores, all with their micro score being higher. I know one person who got a 5 on micro and a 1 on macro, and he said he only studied for MACRO not micro, and he got a 5 on the one he did not even study for. He was pretty good at economics too even before (he self-studied both tests). I scraped a five on both, but I had a much harder time on macro and studied for macro about twice as long.

I plan on self-studying both. Haven’t really begun yet. I just ordered my PR Review Book, but I do have an economics textbook. I plan on reading parts of the PR first to get an idea of what Collegeboard wants, and then reading the corresponding chapters in my textbook for the specifics.

I’m taking Micro during the first semester and will be self-studying Macro. Haven’t really started and don’t plan on doing so until April, haha.

I might self-study both, or I might wait until next year, depending on how I’m doing in class. When is everyone who is self-studying planning on starting?

^ That’s what I’m wondering too. I don’t want to start too late and cram. I actually want to legitimately learn micro.

Micro takes a week to learn, honestly. I thought I was going to cram during spring break, but I actually learned the micro material fully in that week. Macro is a different story, I did learn the material but it took a long time and i also did have to cram for it.

Doing macro and self studying for micro.

Haha good luck guys… AP Macro was a nightmare for me last year, not just because of the content, but also because of my teacher (I even posted a thread in the AP forum ranting about her disrespectful attitude). I’m glad I still scraped past with a 4 on the AP test. At the start of the year, I was initially considering self studying Micro during the second semester, but as I grew to dislike my class I eventually decided not to. Perhaps I should’ve stuck to that plan…

BTW - here’s a helpful hint for you guys: you have to REALLY know the graphs!! Don’t just memorize them; think carefully about each part and what it means.

I love economics. I am taking both.

Sweet, as classes or self studies?

I’m taking both at my school. Being tested on chapter 1 and 2 later this week.

I self-studied Micro and Macro last year, I received 5s on both exams.
If anyone needs any self-study tips or anything related to preparation for the Micro/Macro exam don’t hesitate to ask.
