Anyone taking or have taken History 111A with Zinoman?

I'm currently taking this class and I have a few questions I'd want to ask to people who are taking it right now AND also to those who've taken this class or any class with Prof. Zinoman.

For people who are taking it right now:

Do any of you have the notes for Lecture 1-4? I was actually enrolled in the 3rd week of the class. So I missed the first 3-4 lectures. It'd be a really big help if you could send me your notes to my email. I know there are quite a lot of students who use laptops in the class. So, if you're willing to help me, can you send me your notes from Lecture 1-4? Or if you're writing it down in the old fashioned way, would u be willing to scan it and send it to my email? Any help is appreciated since midterm is on its way!^^

For people who've taken the class?

I don't know about you but I'm actually quite struggling with the class. I've actually studied several southeast asian history before but this class is still a fight for me. One of the things that really puts me on the edge is the readings... There's A LOT of READINGS to do and so little time. English isnt my international language so reading Cambridge textbook (Tarling) is quite a challenge since the english context isn't that easy to grasp. And Tarling doesn't do simple and straight to the point style, if you know what I mean.

My questions are:
- Do you think we need to read all of the readings?? Memorize all of it for the midterm? Or do we only need to study from the lecture notes for the midterm????
- How about the essay question? Are they hard? Are they straightforward? Do the essay questions require you to give out your opinions and back it up using the evidence presented in the readings and the notes?
- How's the grading system? Does he follow a grading curve or something?
- When u took the class, what did you do in order to get prepared for the midterm?
- Any other comments or suggestions u want to add for the midterm??? :)))

Sorry for the bunch of questions. This is my first semester, so bear with me :))
Lastly, thanks a lot for any help!^^
