If you have transferred to Indiana University Bloomington, what were your high school and college stats and your final admission decision? Also, is it true that it takes the Office of Admissions months to give you an answer? Thank you

I applied to transfer to IU just around late December. I visited the campus and spoke with an admissions counselor and she said that a competitive applicant should have a GPA at 2.75 or above. I’d say say anything in to 3.0 range and up is a good place to start. I’m applying with a 3.2 but, I have yet to hear an admissions decision. If you call, they’re really good about letting you know the status of your transcripts and such. The person I spoke to said once your materials are received you can expect a decision in about 4 weeks. However, I’ve also heard it takes much longer than that so, I’d just check your email and online status I hope I’ve helped!

That indeed was excellent information you provided. I’m in my 4th week now and I check every other day, I don’t want to bother them with a phone call unless it’s absolutely necessary. I had a 3.3 at midterm but I had a bad final in one math class and somehow got a C in another so I’m applying with a 2.8 (I had A’s and B’s in the rest). I’m having doubts about being accepted, but what can it hurt to try. Thank you for the response.

I check often too. I know they’re not very good with updating their online materials since they’re still saying I should send my transcripts. I still think you have a good chance, especially since you applied before the Feb 1st priority deadline. I do know however, that grades of C or below in the most recent term could be a reason to deny or waitlist admission so I’d be sure to really do well this semester in case that happens. I’ll let you know about my decision when I get it.

That would be much appreciated, I will to the same as well. The C is actually now an elective and I changed my major after I realized the endless amount of calculus I would be taking. I’m coming from Ball State and should have around a 4.0 this semester. I wasn’t sure if the wait-listed transfer students but you’ve answered the question. You have been very helpful, and I thank you for that.

I’m not sure if it’s technically a waitlist, it more of a “enrollment pending final semester grades” meaning they’ll accept you, but they’re allowed to revoke acceptance based on the transcripts you send in from your final semester.

My status has been updated on the Indiana University website. It now says to send in my final college transcript. Does that mean I’ve been “wait listed?” I don’t know if I should apply for housing at Ball State or assume that I will get in to IU. I should have around a 3.6 to 4.0 this semester.

Hey, where on your status does it say that? Either my app hasn’t been updated/looked at, or I am looking at the wrong section. Do you mind screenshotting it?

I’m not sure what that means either. I’d perhaps check for an e-mail from admissions or call them. I’ll post a link of what mine looks like. It’ hasn’t changed since December so, if it’s what yours look like your application is still pending.

I just called. They received my last materials (SAT scores) on the 28th. It’s about 6-8 weeks for them to make a decision. So I have about 5-7 weeks left of waiting. Well this sucks

What are everyone’s stats?

I have a 3.18-3.2 right now. My most recent term GPA was a 3.8

I didn’t have to send my high school stuff in.

I applied December 27th I believe and they received my transcripts Jan. 7th. Now I’m just waiting :)

Oh nice, I’m only a freshman so I had to send everything in. Look at my new thread for list of my credentials. chance me, please?

All done :)

I called the admissions office, and they want to see my Spring 2011 grades before making a decision. They raised the freshman standards and my highschool 3.0 isn’t considered competitive enough so they are basing their decision solely on my freshman year at Ball State. I won’t have an answer until May, but I’m assuming I have a good chance at getting in or they would have denied me already.

I think that’s fair. It sounds to me like you were a borderline applicant and if you do well this semester they’ll accept you. When did you apply for admission?

First week of January. The admission counselors are really helpful and perform their jobs quite well. Basically I need to stay above 2.5 to stay competitive. Its really a life lesson that I should have taken highschool more seriously. Let us know if you get in, and I wish the both of you luck :)

I’ll be sure to let you know. I’m assuming I’ll hear back at some point then. I sent in my application December 27th and my transcripts were received on Jan 7th. Now I feel like they’re slacking booo good luck to you as well!
