Anyone use a PDA for organizing their lives? For a school agenda replacement, etc.?

I have one, and it has been especially helpful so far, especially when no paper is available when something comes to mind :)

I have one, and it has been especially helpful so far, especially when no paper is available when something comes to mind :)

bumping :)

i dont, but i am ADDICTED to my school agenda/planner thing. I put everything in it and when I lost it for like two days, I flipped out and didn't know what to do. Its completely packed full. If anyone saw that movie with the Olsen twins (if not dont worry you arent missing out, it was hhoorriibbllee) but anyways, my planner looked like the girls in the movie.

You mean your planner was anorexic and utilised slave labour in third-world countries for self-aggrandizement and profit?

I too was addicted to my planner... then I got a PDA and am addicted to that now. I enter all long term assignments and my work schedule into the computer then sync it. I don't keep track of daily assignments or anything because its too time consuming. I surf the web, play my mindless games, and instant message people too...

My boyfriend does! He even bought a keyboard for it and takes notes in class with it.. ><

LOL... the whole keyboard thing is wierd. I don't think I could ever do that!

Nope. It just takes too long to jot down a simple thing.

Pen and paper is much better. I too am addicted to my planner. I can't survive the day without it.

I never understood the point of planners. I never have time to take it out of my bookbag and write anything down. It's just easier to remember everything.

it takes a few seconds to get it out and jot something down.. it's otherwise way too confusing to remember what to do (homework, errands, etc). some events are usually noted weeks in advance, and i can't possibly remember what i wrote a long time ago.. gives a good view of your schedule and how to manage time.
i don't have a pda, but i know that many pharmacists and physicians use them... great for reference.
-another addict of planners.

would anyone recommend a pda for college? How much help will it be?

Really depends on how well you use it, how used you are to it, etc. In my case, both my parents had one for their work, so I basically wanted my own. I'm somewhat addicted to it now, though. But once, it broke down and I had to do without it for about a week or two - although I wasn't in any distress, oddly enough. I just went back to pen and paper as a backup plan :)

Yes, I have used several PDAs in high shcool. The Palm V, The Handspring Visor, and The Palm Tungsten E to name a few.

I have just now completed my senior year and plan on getting a Treo650 smartphone to replace the Tungsten.

PDAs require some practice, if you spend the time to learn the writing system a PDA can be one of the best tools money can buy. For most high school students, there is no need to buy a large expensive PDA. My advise is to start small learn the writing system and then move up to a hi-res or color display if you feel it is needed.

Or;

You can just buy an IR keyboard for the PDA. In any event I think PDAs are worth every dime.

I'm so hardcore; I bring my laptop to class.

lol... I'm gonna have to because I get pain in my for arm when I write too much... yes, it's weird.

I would just get a Treo smart phone, because it has a keyboard which is easier than the PDA's to type things in.

I tried using a PDA for like 2 weeks last year... didn't work out. If I have a hw assignment I just write it down on the piece of paper I took notes on that class, or hope that I remember it. For appointments, I just use the little calender in my cell phone and make a note for a day if I have to. It rings in my pocket when it reminds me. I always kept my PDA in my backpack, so when it rang or whatever, I could never hear it. So yeah, cell phone (regular ol nokia 6800 with keyboard) has been working out for me.

Go with the 6600(branded by many carriers and companies... it's pretty much the same machine but different wireless options) over the Treo. It's just got sooo many more features.
