Anyone want to chance me?

Here are the barebones
Class of 2009
Californian
GPA UW: 3.5855
GPA W: 3.9

SAT Regular: 2230,
1520 M/V
SAT Superscore: 2280

SAT2: 750 Bio, 760 lit, 800 IIC math

EC: I have other stuff, but these are my main ones

VERY actively involved in national circuit LD debate Tourny Champion, debate captain

CEO and founder of a non-profit corporation to help teach kids of any economical background how to debate

Helps poor kids at a local elementary school academically (300 hrs)

Not bad but your GPA really hurts you. If you really want to go to WashU I'd suggest showing a lot of interest by visiting/interviewing at the campus and asking questions. Also, does your high school rank and if so what rank or percentage are you? As I said in another thread, I hear WashU regular decision is ridiculously competitive so you should try to stick out with your essays. Since it seems that your role in teaching kids how to debate may be a hook, maybe you should write you essay on that.

But if I lived in California, I'd probably go for some of the schools in your state. You have some great schools(not ranked that much lower than WashU) there and probably significantly cheaper in state.

His GPA really hurts him? I don't know about that. First of all, it's not THAT low, and if the school is extremely competitive, it could be a really good GPA. Anyway, RD is really hard, but the SAT scores are good, and the non-profit sounds interesting. You sound like you're very good at debate, and I know how much time and effort that must take.

So I can't predict for you...but I think you could do well. Even if you don't get in, you probably will have a lot of good options.

how rigorous is your school?

Top 30 in teh country. regularly sends people to MIT, Stanford, Duke, etc.

is yours the average gpa or higher?

I have no idea, but i would reckon at least slightly above average
