Anyone who got denied in high school but got accepted after 1st year transfer?

@ tennisball02 they're about the same as regular admissions

Stephenn, I can see that, but can you not read where it says w/ his HS GPA of 2.2 and he got into Brown is amazing. Reagrdless of what his college gpa was, thats crazy

I was denied admission to quite a few places from high school, but after a 4.0 in college, transferred into Cornell.

I actually encourage going to an easy college your first year. Saves making HS too stressful (HS is time to have fun - college is stressful enough, where grades actually matter)...and allows you to get your gen.ed credits with easy A's and low cost.

could you guys post what kind of college (community college, 2 tier university, etc) you transferred from?

thanks guys! you guys are an inspiration to me

why? what college did you transfer from Dark?

Thanks, but in all honesty, I think it might have helped that I had some unusual recommendations, though.
I had one from the Deputy Director of the Army Review Board, one from someone in congress, a couple of other military officials, one from my boss, along with the required professors'. I sent in at least six recommendations, I think.

Not personally, good friend.
Denied from Georgetown, attended Bucknell, hated it, did nothing but work out and study. Can now bench 400 and got a 4.0 (I thought that was nifty). Transferred to Georgetown this year. Loves it.

Jesus %&@$# Christ, 400 on the bench? You should just show up and look the Georgetown dean of admissions right in the eyes. He'll take you, he cares for his life too much.

Tarhill, a community college.

But I assume you're a fan of UNC? (I'm from the area) love Chapel Hill.

You know it brotha :)

Where are you now Plattsburgh?

I was denied to Virginia Tech when applying my senior year of high school (3.2 GPA in HS). I got a 3.267 my first semester at Case Western Reserve Univ and I'm applying transfer to VT, UVA, George Mason, and Clemson. Wish me luck!

^You wont get into UVA and doubfully Clemosn. VT is possible and George Mason is likey

Ouch. Maybe you could soften that, TarHeelBound. May not get into those schools but 3.267 is not completely unrealistic either. skx46 needs to go for it and give it a try...and let us know how it goes! good luck!

Well, sorry to come off as snoody, but UVA is a huge longshot. The others are possible. be sure to write good essays brotha :) Hope ya find the right fit for YOU

UNC and UVA are really similar...and I didn't get into UNC in-state with a 4.0 for transfer. Soo...yeah.

I went to UVA and I wasn't God's academically gifted....

Does anyone know how important SAT scores are for a transfer applicant?

Did those of you who got into your dream schools after a year of college have exceptional SAT scores?

Thanks!

I was rejected by Colgate for freshmen admissions. (should've applied ED...) I cried and called the adcom and asked what was the matter despite my dad (alum) having called to find out what happened and if they could at least wait-list me (he THOUGHT I was going to get in as a legacy). The adcom said, "Nothing wrong with your application... just too many Bs. If you can bring your GPA up, you can always apply for a transfer."

I went to Smith... didn't feel at home and just didn't like it but worked my ass off so I could get out of there. I wound up applying to Colgate, and ONLY Colgate. Got in. BEST feeling over. I'll never forget that day that I got my acceptance letter. Never looked back since.

My GPA was a factor as well my reasons for going to Colgate. I also grew up a bit and showed them my true side (I cared more about horseback riding than some academic quiz bowl).

SATs don't really matter after freshmen admissions if you're applying for sophomore transfer (not second-semester freshmen). GPA does matter.

Great story, tickleme. Hope we get more people like that!
