Anyone willing to proofread a supplement?

Hi guys,

Would anyone (not in the Class of 2016) be willing to read my "letter to a roommate" essay? I'm not sure if it's too casual, or if I'm on the right track. I'd love to hear from people who have successfully written this essay, or anyone willing to read and provide feedback. If you've already applied SCEA, you're welcome to read if you'd like, I'm just a little apprehensive about other 2016'ers reading my essays :)

Thank you in advance!

Anybody? I’ll be glad to return the favor :)

If you still need proofreading, let me know. I would be happy to help. How will you send it? PS - I am parent and that is why I am not sure how you would send it ;)

Im a parent too and my S is a class of 2015 student. He had a very hard time with this essay and the college counselor we hired made him rewrite it a few times but finally in the end he nailed it. I would be more than happy to proof read yours. PM me with the essay and I will get back asap, if you’re still interested.

Otherwise good luck

I’d be willing to take a look. I already sent in my app REA so I’m pretty familiar with the questions.

Thanks to everyone who responded! I’ll PM you my essay. Additionally, I’ve written a draft of the “What Matters to You and Why” question. Feel free to critique it as well; I’d love the feedback  You all are awesome!

figureskater405, I didn’t see anything in my message inbox (I am not great at CC and may not be looking in the correct place), but FYI my take on the Stanford supplement questions is that Admissions simply wants to gain some perspective on your personality - qualities that might not show up on the Common App – so don’t be too formal in your writing, and be humble (most Stanford students are) but at the same time let your distinct “wonderfulness” (word?) shine through. Sometimes it is best not to overthink those short essays/answers. Of course, you do need a second pair of eyes to check for glaring spelling/grammatical errors. BTW, I am a proud Cardinal parent.

mamae -
Thank you for your advice! I tried to send you a PM, but it said you had a setting that won’t allow private messages. Personally, I’m not sure how to change that, but I would love your feedback on my essays. Maybe there is another way to get them to you?

Oops, sorry figureskater405! I think I have now enabled PMing if you want to try again.
