Anyone withouth likely letter receive acceptance/rejection?

Oh, I made a mistake. The person who I thought got accepted was actually saying that if she got accepted, she wouldn’t go because she’s already choosing to go to Cornell but she hasn’t heard back from NYU yet and everyone else (people who didn’t get invites/ CAS applicants) hasn’t heard back from NYU either in my school. So there’s still hope :)

I was still really annoyed that someone would apply there and not even consider going when there’s a bunch of us who are desperate to get in :/

do you goto an all girl’s school?

No, it’s a very very diverse public school

lol. nvm…

Yournamehere: It’s unfortunate that whenever someone gets rejected they blame it on URMs. My D is URM with 2080 SAT, 34 ACT, top 5% of her class (a very competitive public school) with lots of ECs including opinion editor of her school paper, published twice in a countywide newspaper (close to Orlando) She got admitted Honors in UF, Honors in American University, UNC (OOS), and got waitlisted in Duke. UF and American were her safe schools. UNC, NYU and Tuft were her mid schools and Duke, Brown, Cornell and Columbia where her top schools. I adviced her this way knowing that school admissions are now more like throwing a dice than selecting the best fit. Yesterday was a very bad day for her. She was rejected in all her top schools and has not even received a rejection letter from NYU. As an URM, who is she to blame? I am sure there were other well qualified applicants who are non-URM with lower stats than her who were admitted to some of these schools yesterday.

My sense of this post, is, please don’t blame URMs for your rejections. I am sure you have very good qualifications and if you are not admitted into NYU (I hope you do) you will do equally fine in another university.

With that said, I wish all of you good luck. I hope your acceptances are indeed on its way. I have adviced my D not to look for any accptance from NYU and to make plans to go to UNC, another fine school.

i think its creepy and annoying that your on this site as a parent… if we wanted to hear this type of lecture from parents- we would talk to our own.

Did the acceptance letters come in big envelopes or regular sized ones? Still haven’t heard here in NJ.

@ geomens: I’ve been rejected from schools, but I placed blame on no one but myself. I don’t think you’re justified in saying “It’s unfortunate that whenever someone gets rejected they blame it on URMs” just because you saw one, maybe two, people saying such a thing. Just wanted to put that out there. Anyways, I wish your daughter luck with her decision!

By the way, I wish I went to your daughter’s school! 2080 SAT and still in top 5%? Dang! At my school (also a public high school) I’m barely scraping within top 9% with a 4.45/4.5 weighted GPA and 2130 SAT @_@

@ blinky314: A big arse envelope through the normal US mail service. So basically…we’ll know right away if we were accepted based on that D:

so what’s up with all the NJ kids not receiving letters? it seems to me that it’s always the jersey kids…

They hate Jersey :(

Omg. I am so nervous. NYU is my #1 and all acceptance letters seem to have been mailed out a couple of weeks ago. I am here still waiting for it. =/. I don’t think this is a good thing…

I’m in TX and I just got my response today. Waitlisted…
But meh, better than the rejection I expected! BTW I applied to Stern.

Question, anyone know of anything I can do to improve my chances? :open_mouth: Thanks muchos!

Yep. The last batch seems to be full of waitlisters and rejectees. Fail, all I have to blame is myself.

Rejected today. NJ here.

There are 7 people that I know from my school who have yet to hear ANYTHING from NYU. Does this really mean that we’re ALL rejected/waitlisted?

Maybe I’m being too optimistic but I find that really hard to believe.

Especially because 2 other kids who got likely letters still haven’t received their admissions packets.

i still havent heard anything… the 2 other kids at my school already got their packets. but one was ED and the other was RD, but he is beyond stellar so yeah… and all the smart kids from my school got rejected or waitlisted to every top university… man admissions SUCK
