Anyone work as a Bartender?

Just intrested, does anyone work nights as a bartender? How's the pay? Is it fun? How easy of a job is it to get? If you've got some experiances feel free to share them as well.

My girlfriend do it…she is older than me

She works at a tavern, slightly upper scale bar, kind of thing near where she goes to school, she is senior, 5th yr

Things she mentioned before

Bartending school= waste of money…she went to one for a few days before deciding that it was just not worth it…most bartending schools cannt actually find you a job

Work, she works 3 nights a week, basically friday + weekend, decent pay

She loves the work place b/c the owners are really really nice and i guess it really depending on the place

she was bareback for a little while, she used to go to the place she currently works at a lot as a customer and after a awhile, she got to know the people there and …

the pay varies, but she works around a dozen nights per month, and its enough to pay for rent, food, and allowance. sometimes its even higher b/c of special events, aka new years or big game…

last word, its really tiring…

One of my friends bartends to earn pocket money during the school year. Our school has an agency that accepts top students from the sponsored bartending class. The agency posts job listings, and the minimum pay is $25/hr, I think. (Although bartenders do have to pay a certain fee per job.) However, I think the agency recently closed down (or at least has stopped posting listings), so now my friend finds jobs through Craigslist. She hasn’t had any problems so far, and she makes really good money. The jobs are usually 4-6 hours, and she works once every couple of weeks.

The jobs seem to be pretty tiring, but there are some perks (like being able to keep a bottle of wine or two, not to mention the pay).

What bartender gets paid 25/hr?? all the bartenders i know dont get paid like that an hour, they get paid like a servers wage which is like $3/hr because all of hteir money is out of tips.

My sister is a bartender and a really really good one actually. she makes bank, she only works 3 days a week. at least $200/night, and like hello motto said, it depends on if theres a game that night/special event/whatever. She started out as a server, and im not sure how she transfered as a bartender, but i think its because she was a great server (because she worked at a crappy restaurant that would make her work like 2384 tables at once so she became really good at balancing tables and now she’ll be bored serving like 5 tables.) and her boss stretched all the employees out, making them do more than they should be, and put her on as a bartender as well. some nights shed be bartending and serving i think, so she just became really good at it.

i dont know anything about bartending placement, but what you learn in bartending school is pretty useless. yes, you might learn how to make a bunch of different drinks but uhm- no one ever orders that ****.

cool, yea **** bartending school. i want a legit part time job that pays good, and im super down to work hard as well. not a carrer choice, just a job i will look at in the future for fun and cash.

my sister goes to tulane, she bartends. she went to a school and all, it was like three weeks during the summer. nbd. she loves it.
